Just when you thought Israel couldn't stoop lower. "The UK has become the latest country to pause funding for the UN agency for Palestinians, UNRWA. It comes after the agency announced the sacking of several of its staff over allegations of involvement in the 7 October Hamas attacks. The UK government said it was "appalled" by the allegations made by Israel." (BBC website) I wonder if the UK has paused any arms sales in light of this Genocide ?

I'm hearing that Israel is in the final hours of preparing a significant and sustained military operation into Southern Lebanon as large numbers of troops and material have been diverted from the Gaza front in recent days.

Israel used to buy British stuff as they found it reliable and functional. They would have, for example, British tanks but refit them for their own use. I think it was basically The Cromwell in their previous wars.

It's like defunding the NHS after Lucy Letby killed some patients. What possesses these people.

Why do I have to remember the Holocaust? This wasn't pushed on us when I was young.

I have just got back from an Asian tour including the Killing Fields, 1 in 4 Cambodians were murdered by the Khmer Rouge. I think it is important that our generation bear witness to what happened to tell the younger generations so hopefully this bestiality never happens again. It is also important to confront the Holocaust deniers. You don't have to participate that is the benefit of a free country but I will never forget. I am still raw and emotional from Cambodia, I saw a tree where each night the KR would smash hundreds of babies against it and would play music to drown out the screams of the adults that they murdered. Please god nothing like this happens again but we both know that somewhere in the world it will sometime.

This occurrence never happened in Britain, however it's as if we are connected to it. The second world war was not fought for anything related to this. There was some knowledge it was happening during the war but not the scale. Both advancing troops allied from the west and east uncovered the camps so we gradually understood it then. It was utterly condemned it as should any attempt at genocide be. However, until the seventies mentions of the holocaust outside of the Jewish community was at what I'd regard as normal levels. That can be proven by looking at how often the word was mentioned in media. Indeed, this is a relatively modern cultural practice to incorporate it further than that. The generation who fought the Nazis didn't have this level of connection to it. For example many times more Russians were killed by the Germans. Why aren't they given a proportionally higher level of victimhood. Hitler intended to do much the same to them and did on a larger scale. I could say why I think that doesn't happen but most people know when they think about it. Personally I regard this as just another part of social liberalism (which post war generations did not do) that modern day conservatism has embraced to its detriment. In science you can prove chemistry or physics by experiments, but even they get to argue over cause. All human thought needs to be open to examination, proof and testing. With history, while you can have physical remains most of what you will have will be documentation or theory and its interpretation. When it comes to someone doubting an event happened then surely what is far better is to discuss their objections and compare it to the evidence. I think there are certain aspects of strong proof that an attempted geocide of Jews in Europe happened....I looked into it and I regard the census data and statements of death squads as evidence enough. However, if someone wants to argue then it's the strength of the rationale behind it that matters. For me personally from what time I spent on it, it's only ever a question of the numbers But like I say, if someone wants to think they are Napoleon or that creationism is true and evolution isn't....or a man thinks they are a women I can only give them rational arguments against that. Do I want to make it illegal for them to think that? Or pass a law saying that can't deny something I think is true? None of this attitude was what I was raised with. No one should be compelled to believe something. Encouraged to via the evidence, but compulsion is rarely justifiable. This basic freedom is what is at threat in Europe today....and this group think requirement adds to that....even if what that group think is happens to be something I personally agree with.

Censorship of opinion "Labour MP Kate Osamor has been suspended by her party after saying Gaza should be remembered as genocide in a post about Holocaust Memorial Day. She wrote: "Tomorrow is Holocaust Memorial Day, an international day to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, the millions of other people murdered under Nazi persecution of other groups and more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and now Gaza." She later tweeted an apology "for any offence caused by my reference to the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Gaza as part of that period of remembrance". (BBC website) Meanwhile most aid has been cut to Gaza, but the arms supply from USA and UK is still flowing. Sick, sick, sick

Nancy Pelosi tells CNN that protesters who advocate for a ceasefire in Gaza are spreading 'Putin’s message' and wants them investigated for possible links to Russia. The tragicomedy continues. Tucker Carlson calls Republicans implying war with Iran, 'fecking lunatics'....I have to say neo con, 'forever wars' were warned about regarding this incoming administration but that the Republicans are just as full of neo cons themselves.
