The government's controversial Bibby Stockholm barge for asylum seekers has been listed on a travel website for £86 per night. The listing was uploaded a week after 39 asylum seekers were evacuated from the vessel on 11 August over fears of Legionella bacteria. The incident, which occurred just days after the migrants arrived, prompted widespread criticism of the Home Office's handling of the scheme. The tories are just a joke.
Sigh And the person who listed it has already said it was a joke and it's been removed. Hardly a story.

I genuinely don't understand the fuss about housing people in boats. - The accommodation has to be safe and a decent standard if it isn't then it doesn't matter if it's a hotel or a barge it's unfit. - It's not a prison the asylum seekers are free to come and go same as a hotel. Err that's it. Genuine question can anyone explain the moral outrage?

I have heard claims about prison ships (Victorian England) but this is just nonsense as it's not a prison. So far I have yet to here a coherent reason, people are just imposing their prejudices onto this issue as opposed to looking at the facts. Edited by Badger11 (23 Aug 2023 8.51am)

Err that's it. Genuine question can anyone explain the moral outrage? No. The accommodation looks pretty good to me. The issue is much more about that number being housed close to quite a small community and disturbing it significantly. I realise they need to go somewhere but either in a much larger city (London docklands perhaps. Pity the barge could not get under London Bridge or Westminster would be ideal) or somewhere very remote with all services being provided to it.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Yup I get that the locals wouldn't want that but again it's the same if they took over a hotel. No the complaints I mean are from the pro migration lobby rather than the Nimby's.

This barge is a distraction. The issue is why the Tories have, and are still allowing, this invasion to continue.

If the rumours are true then the Police in France have recently watched three boats be unloaded from a trailer which was then filled with migrants delivered to said beach in a double decker bus.

With the long terms solution presented in the guise of us going back into the EU. Am I becoming somewhat of a broken record on this topic? Yes. But every political particle in my body is now screaming out about what is happening in that events ONLY make sense if you accept that the Tories, or whoever are pulling their strings, actually want this s*** to happen. They are setting the stage for Starmer to swan in and sprinkle the magic fairy dust to make things right.

Even if he is actually trying, then it is even more of a reason to not vote for the b****** because he is beyond crap. But it is all engineered. 100%
