Not much surprises me in life at this point. Corbyn is pretty much for everything I'm against and no doubt would be a disaster....but I can't help but partly like one thing about him.....he wants to tear down the establishment.....I don't....but I'd certainly like to tickle it in the ribs. The anti establishment thing is something I like....It's what I liked about Trump most of all.....even though he turned into fecking Jeb Bush. Edited by Stirlingsays (17 Dec 2018 7.10pm)

Mmmm....decisions that result in the horrible deaths of hundreds of thousands of people......Not fighting men but women and especially innocent children...Well, it's hard to stomach. But I know that view is completely out of context. War has nothing to do with fairness, it has to do with winning.

I suppose it's because that particular threat has been with the area for centuries the stakeholders of the past throughout history actually got of their arses and did something about it. No major flooding here since the fifties but that can't be said for many other areas of the country. There are areas that aren't so historically at threat but because they haven't have the same level of protection through the centuries and recent decades are in far more realistic danger. Edited by Stirlingsays (17 Dec 2018 6.35pm) I was going to suggest these But I couldn't find any with the required level of complexity

Of course I'd probably not like him either if I knew him but I think I dislike those that hate him much more.....and of course he's a nationalist, which I like...even though it means little in policy terms. He is literally a weird version of Alf Garnett stuck in a parallel American universe sticking two fingers up to everyone.....It's not very presidential.....but I fecking love it.

Yes it's always possible to win militarily but when the soldiers go home they usually leave some other kind of unresolved problem behind.

However, it's true, every war has a cost and it is paid by the winners as well as by the losers. That's why wars are the last resort.
