Might be for the best as he’s not been in great form anyway but how can you drop the great Wilf?

Yes he did get fouled a lot but So does Hazzard The difference being that refs are much more likely to reach for their whistle when its Eden. I counted at least 6 blantant fouls on Wilf alone today that went unpunished, not including the constant kicking and shoving. The one on the edge of the box where the ref gave a corner being the worst, and that does not include the one on Andros that could have ended his career, or the forearm smash into Tompkins face that should have been a penalty. I can well understand wilf's frustration and anger, and yes he should control it, but can someone please give me another example in their lifetime where a ref gave a second yellow immediately after the first because he got applauded by the guy that did it ? I have seen tons of plays do exactly what Wilf did and the worst ive seen is a stern talking to.

Wilf needs a break and more protection just because you have talent it doesn't mean everyone can kick the sh*t out of you every week and get away with it because of the pundits bias opinions and crap refs. If you don't believe it you get on the pitch and get the sh*t kicked out of yourself every week and see how you enjoy it even if you earn well.

It’s all part of being a top player , Hazzard gets kicked just as much ! Tonight was especially dire from southampton, If Hazard was playing there tonight I'm sure they would have provoked something from him by the 87th minute, it was actually as disgusting as that ref's performance. Wilf was as much wound up by the ref's performance during the whole evening as he was by being fouled and seeing his team mates being fouled ..ref booked two of their players! bleeding two!

Next game ... and then who knows, given his continued mocking of the ref after getting the red. It was a foul, true ... but what a dumbass. Stephens should've been off, too, in the first half for the studs-up assault on Townsend. Not even a yellow. Edited by jhillman (30 Jan 2019 10.27pm)

Whatever you think of the refs decisions you cannot take the p*ss out of them as he did tonight, this has been coming for sometime maybe Wilf will learn or maybe not.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wilf Ban' by Midlands Eagle My take... Wilf and managers have publicly come out and stated he doesn't get any protection. The stats are all for us to see that he is one of the top two players to be fouled. It's no secret, there is not much more left to say. However, to some, wilf has an attitude problem, he 'failed' at utd, didn't try 'hard' at cardiff and back in his comfort zone at palace where he is the highest earner, back with his pals and in flash cars. His England stint was a mixed bag and he either gave up and went to IC or he was ignored, so went IC. So already, there are some opinions of him - rightly or wrong. So when teams want to get three points off us, to either win a league, stay in a league, they know this is a good tactic 'wind up wilf, disrupt him'. If he cannot see this, if he cannot bite his lip on 120k, if he cannot just let his football do the talking and realise it's all part of the opposition trying to 'beat' him/us then he will never make it in the big teams. I appreciate it's hard, but we all face demons, obstacles and challenge and we are told to persevere - he needs to look at Beckham post 98, he was hated by everyone... the press loved to hate him... he turned it around, can wilf? I say no and i say cash in on him whilst we can, it's almost on the verge of being a distraction - get 50 mil, spend that on two new attacking midfielders - think of how much AT cost us... get two more of him in our team... job done.
This was once a quality forum.... |

All very well saying sell him. Many of us have paid good money to watch him. He is one of our most exciting players ever. Don’t let something like this lose him. The guy is a special very rare talent. His skills make a massive difference to fans customer experience at games. Whenever Wilf gets theball at his feet it is like getting a fix of adrenalin.

Won’t defend Zaha here however this was a somewhat unique game. The ref bottled the Stephens tackle on Andros that should have been straight red. Bednareks tackle on Wilf was an orange card at worst and Wilf barely complained, which I noticed. Ward Prowse is an annoying little rat of a player and he got to Wilf, then fouled him, the ref once again bottled it and their little rat was able to wind Wilf up even more and you saw the rest. Wilf has to stop this though as he may as well walk around with a bullseye on his shirt. Agreed. Ward Prowse knew exactly what he was doing, goading him having escaped the foul. Is provocation of another player a bookable offence? He baited the trap and Wilf naively took his hand off. Not defending him at all. He should rise above it but some days it must be hard.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wilf Ban' by Midlands Eagle Yes Wilf took the bait , but you know what he got battered this game and as already mentioned Mariner could of booked or sent off half the SFC team in the second half. Amd Roy Ffs You take off CK for Schlupp , they score , we have JA achieving nothing all game but leave him on when we need a target man up from to take the pressure off. For the love of Christ sort the substitutions out , 3 points thrown away again. On a positive spin Wilf gets a rest mid season.
