It was an awful evening and I got soaked on the Whitehorse terrace. The pitch was heavy going which made Terry Long's volleyed goal even more spectacular.
He said recently that he was being close down by a Real player so he just swung at it with his left foot.

........................Then along came Johnny Byrne! and the rest, as they say, is history.....................

Lucky man.
Being a youngster meself, the one i wish i'd been there for,was our 2-4(70's) at wrexham, difficult to find, but the Palace end Goes APE s***.
(for those thoes dont know how big this game was-google it)

I was even luckier, days before that game the manager,Arthur Rowe, use to let us kick around on the pitch whilst the players were training.
We were knocking a ball around near the tunnel when out walked Puskas,Di Stefano,Santa-Maria,Gento and others,we couldn't believe it being on the pitch with them.
Strange thing was they never had a ball but they all gathered around the centre circle doing breathing exercises, had never seen that before in those days. The Palace players were doing their stints by running up and down the terracing.

I wouldn't worry if you missed the Play Off Final in 2004. I think it was a bit of an anti-climax after the high of Brian Deane's equaliser against Wigan, Darren Powell's header and winning on penalties against Sunderland. I still had a great time, but I had a feeling that we were definitely going up and that it would be our day.

The game that I most regret missing was Palace 5 Brighton 0. I'd been told that I'd get a ticket then my mate decided to give his spare tickets to a mate who didn't even support Palace. Gutted!

Missing the stockport away game will forever be my biggest regret being a Palace fan. No matter what happens in our future i dont think anything will top that day.
Hillsborough last year contends with it but not the same for me.
That day back it 2001 will always be that little bit extra special because of the people that did it for us. Kember, Freedman, Morrison, Austin. These are all proper Palace Man,heroes, they have palace in there blood and dare i say it legends it there own way.
Hillsborough was a fantastic performance and warrior like spirit but the players dont connect to be as Palace men like the class of 2001 do. In my opinion, some do but not many.

So for me Stockport will always be my biggest regret i wasnt there to celebrate with the boys.
