That's all true. But. Not one mention? Even Roy's little interview was all about Burnley. I'm shallow enough to only watch MoTD if we've got at least a point but they usually talk about goals. Not yesterday.

Noticed Andersen got man of the match again. I'm surprised as, although he was fine, I rated Johnstone and Ayew higher. I voted for Johnstone for his saves.

Sorry old chap, but I have to disagree with you. Ward has been very strong for us this season so far. OK, he's a tad off the pace now and he scored an unfortunate OG last week, but he's saved far more with decent positioning and tackles. A stalwart for the club.

Fair enough you're entitled to your opinion, but in 11 matches you've mentioned yourself the mistakes he's made already.
He should be back up at best to a young attacking full back who is willng to bomb forward and get crosses i . Wanting to stick with him at this point shows the lack of progress fans are willing to accept.
Stalwart for the club he is and a fantastic servant. Knowing when to move on is also vital.

Ward is so good these days that opposition players are instructed by their management to play the ball constantly down his side of the pitch, such is their awe at watching him perform. Now that's respect.

I'm wondering if you and Lanzo go to the matches or just watch the 3 minute highlights on YouTube? Those highlights made us look decent, restricting them to a few half chances and we were clinical on the break.
What that doesn't show is how us fans endured us camped in our box for around 70 minutes, hardly got into the their half and when we did we couldn't get three passes together.
Talk of league position also not relevant. We might flit between 8th and 14th, breaking top 7 for Europe is just too tall an order (would love to br proved wrong on that).
No one is moaning, more a comment on how given we've been 10 seasons in the prem it would be nice not let us see promoted teams dominate us all game. Before any starts going on about Charlton, Curbishley and Europe etc I'm not asking for that, just to play more in their half and have some attacking impetus.
Surely now that's also got to be the end for Ward. They got down his side every time. Wondering if he was only made captain because we were guaranteed that Guehi and Andersen were going to stay in the summer. Problem is now Roy feels compelled to play him. How can he after yesterday's performance? Wingers just have him on toast now.

Yes, i watch every game complete, on TV obviously, the gap between the quality between our players and theirs was vast, our players dont panic in possession , unlike Burnleys who continually panicked on the ball, the plan to play the way we did was limited to the quality available, when Eze and Olise are match fit we will dominate most games, 5 clean sheets in 10 league games is excellent, second only to Arsenal, 8th to 14th is a superb return for a club our size, we dont have backers willing to plough millions into the club, that is the bottom line, take a look at the championship, all of them would swap position with us, footballing and financial wise.

I wholeheartedly concur with these sentiments but at present he is undergoing a torrid time. His vast experience has been useful in terms of his positioning but alas his legs are suffering the passage of time.

I had a conversation with a learned gentleman only recently about Ward and in his opinion he could well be useful ploughing his furrow in central defence in the lower reaches.

What a load of moaning whingers we have as so called fans, it was an excellent performance, defence solid as a rock, great battling performance, two great goals, Andersen and Ayew fantastic, Ayew was brilliant for the first goal, yes, we need a RB and a CF, but with Ayew, Eze and Olise back fully fit soon, i think the 10th place we are in will improve dramaticly, yes,10th, FFS you would think we were bottom three by some of the comments.

i disagree. whilst the 3 points were very welcome we were shocking from the first minute and had no idea how to attack. We time wasted from kick off and once we scored - great persistence from Ayew, but shocking defending - with our only chance, we just sat back and tried to run the clock down.

IMHO you need to be at games to see how things pan out - TV shows a limited view of the pitch. The top 4 , with the exception of the occasional Ayew piece of magic, is so limited. JS other than the goal was clueless and Hughes is so slow he offered nothing.

Yes we have injuries but very team has injuries. All our players are millionaires with much top flight experience.

I don't think it is unreasonable to expect them to pass the ball, move into space and maybe beat their opponent occasionally.

Our away set away is so one dimensional. If a team score early e.g. Newcastle, there is no plan B.

Roy would have looked at who we were playing and defending deep was the best way of not conceding .Ward was up against a 19 year old Olympic sprinter and was well off the pace running 10 yards ,having bodies covering countered the lack of pace . We never looked like we would let one in and Johnston is proving to be top keeper once more after a couple of difficult years

You are right we appear limited because without Eze,and Olise, that’s what we are, very limited . Any moan has to be to the club and its owners. Only having a great organiser in place and a supper work ethic amongst those limited players is the reason we have come through the first eleven games with 15 points . You say if we go behind no plan B maybe but we have kept 5 clean sheets , and conceded just 13 goals , The only games we have lost all top six, and only Newcastle hammered us, we are not alone in that experience.
Every club has injuries, but every club has filled out squads to cope with that ,not ours, that’s clear ,or Olise, and Eze wouldn’t the only key to a style beyond what we see.

Good to take 3 points yesterday and have Eze back in the fold. One pundit mentioned Burnley were sticking to their guns to gain certain relegation as a work in progress !?! Team for next week will probably be Eze full return with one of the 3 DM's making way. If Olise can make the bench like Eze this week great. Suspect starting team for the foreseable barring injuries will be 2 from Hughes, Doucore and Lerma, possibly 3 in supposed tougher oppo, and the other 4 Schlupp, Eze, Olise, Ayew and Eduoard with 1 making way and utilised as back up. The rest will have time depending on the flow of the game. Think we will have enough points on the board come Xmas not to dabble in the market, although strengthening where weak would be nice but unlikely. This season looks like shaping up to be the same as last, 10th-15th finish.

This is reasonable. We've beaten Sheffield Utd, Wolves, Burnley, all below us, and had a fine result against Manchester United. Losses have been against higher placed clubs, and draws against those teams around us. Roy will target the games against the lower teams to collect points.
Roy does what Roy does, and it is what it is, a fairly uninspiring watch. The end result of which will be another season in the PL, finishing around 12th, and it will be as it ever was. This team doesn't have the depth of players to progress, and that is down to the board and finance, and the the academy not rolling out a conveyor belt of PL ready talent, well not yet anyway.

I would suggest the team that plays the ‘better football’ is the one that wins.

Burnley have tried to play a ‘style’ of football that exceeds their capability and will get relegated for it. We are currently playing a ‘style’ that is pragmatic given the resource available.

Until that improves, it is probably the best approach until such time we have all players fit or additions to our limited squad.

It is what it is and was yesterday however, and we got the win, which immediately puts me in far better spirits. COYP

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
