According to The Sun, França is due to be available against Newcastle and Olisé against Tottenham.

Thank God the Sun is a reliable source of info and not gutter trash

While accepting that any player can get injured in any match, I wonder whether the likes of Doucoure and Lerma would be more likely to be brought back for a likely winable game- say Luton or Bournemouth at home, rather than at Newcastle away and at home to Spurs? I wouldn't be surprised if they 'weren't quite ready' for the next two matches...

I think the lack of faith in replacements for both would dictate their inclusion unless we were planning on completely throwing these games. That's my hunch anyway, who knows.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

So your solution is that we just hold up the white flags, because in your mind Sandcastle and Spuds are better than us - so surrender 6 points - even though we have key players that make a huge difference to us fit and available for selection - is that seriously what you are suggesting..??

Unreal - glad you’re not our Manager..!!

Bottom line is that you always play your best available XI..!!!

There are no “gimmes” in this League - equally there are no games you can’t win…!!

You simply can’t plan team selection around so called “winnable games” - that.would be totally foolhardy..!!

You put your best available XI on the pitch every game and fight for every point - you certainly don’t set team selection around perceived easier fixtures..!!

My guess based on recent injury records is that these two will make the Tottenham game. Wild guess but that is it.
Bigger concerns are Franca Eze Olise Ferguson Ward and Jupp. (plus Henderson).
Could be a good while yet for most of them.
Starting to get worried about Franca now.

Absolutely. Look at what we did at Manure! We had 3 0-0 games against the Geordies last year. We could eke out another result against them (i doubt we will but it's possible).

As for Spurs, it would be nice to be the team who ends their unbeaten start to the season.

Some "weaker" teams have sent 2nd XIs to get thumped thereby resting their players for target games. This was noticeable at Old Trafford in the 90s. I think the Prem quietly clamped down on this. Not really in the sprit of the game; and 2nd place were none too keen as they were not afforded that honour by said cr@p team.

Teams don't do that anymore. However, in this case, perhaps the poster is suggesting that if the player is there or there abouts that is not enough where there are such fine margins. They need to be all the way there to play.

Roy has just confirmed Franca is fit. He was coy on whether he'll play though. It's a big ask for him to come in and fill Olise and Eze's shoes, but we could all do with a lift. My guess is he'll be on the bench. I didn't hear any mention of any of the other absentees, but I did join the presser five minutes late.
