I have no clue what franca is on but if the average wage is 60k per week then id be surprised If we was paying a 19 year old more than 40k but who knows, I also don't have any idea what our match day income is plus the running costs of the club.

Our wage bill is apparently 60 mill a year, i could be wrong but I thought prem clubs got on average, 160 mill a year in TV money, so where is that 100 million going ?

Plus the players are also an asset, like I said sell 2 out of Guehi, Andersen, olise, eze, doucoure next summer and that's 100 million being Conservative.

I dont see how the club can be in as financially poor position as people are making out.

I hope this will help.
1. The actual overall wage bill for 2021/22 (the last published accounts) was £123m (of which £101m went on player wages - not £60m as suggested in your post)
2. The total income (not just TV money) was £160m
3. A profit of £37m? NO because you then have to deduct:
- cost of running the facilities and other overheads
- depreciation of assets
- that year's cost of of the price paid for players under their first contract with the club known as "amortisation". Basically when clubs buy a player they account for the purchase price over the length of the contract. For example, Doucoure cost about £22m, so the club would charge the accounts about £4.5m each year over the 5 year life of the contract. There would still be such costs associated with the prices paid for Eze, Olise, Guehi, Andersen, Hughes etc.
- tax - yes clubs have to pay tax to the IR!

The club ended up making an operating LOSS of £24m.

So, no, the club doesn't have £100m to spend.

The financial picture for 2022/23 should be a bit better but whether or not the club has made a profit or simply a smaller loss remains to be seen

*Steve enters the boardroom, happy as can be*

"Hey guys, look what I found down the back of the sofa, a twenty pound note! I'm going to add it to my other loose change for the New Striker Acquisition Fund, up to twenty pounds, sixty seven pence now, oh happy days!"
"Can I have a quick look Steve, if you don't mind?"
"Sure Dougie, twenty whole pounds, have a feel of that!"
"Steve, this is an old expired note, these went out of circulation in September 2022."
"You're kidding me Dougie surely? How can I show some intent with a worthless twenty pound note? Oh woe is me!"

Yeah but why let facts get in the way of a good rant, this is a football forum after all, so facts are irrelevant.

You started this Thread by saying that we have 5 playing assets around which we should build a stronger squad by the Board showing “ intent “.

Now you are advocating selling 2 of them !

You seem to either be unable to grasp the club’s finances ( admittedly these can look complex ) or choose not to.

Palace carry some of the lowest debt in the Premier League. They also adhere to FFP. The club is constrained by their location which in real terms is costing potential income . All things considered, there is not a lot of financial wriggle room for Parish to provide anything more than a comparatively modest transfer budget. And that scenario does not give the club the luxury of signing 3 more players that, to quote you, could be flops !

Who's said selling them this year, there's 2 young England internationals who's value is only gonna increase, the same as olise. doucoure and Andersen are not going to lose value either.

Where's this number of over 100 million on players wages come from ? I can share plenty of articles that show the club's wages from 55 to 70 mill. A wage bill of over 100 million is every player in a squad of 25 being on 80k a year, ill be surprised if we've got 4 players on that or more. The club can manipulate the books how they please, running the club at a loss for tax purposes. Fact is we have 4 owners worth a combined 6 billion, we get 160 million in tv money every year and we would struggle to name a squad of 25 with 1 lb and 2 strikers of which the manager doesn't even wanna pick 1, if our finances are that bad then the board are doing an even worse job than I thought.

Our squad is weak, Roy would struggle to name a first 11 and full bench without kids in it, look what happened last time we had one LB in souare. Defend the board all you want but they lack ambition.

Good post, unfortunately it won’t help those who have little understanding of basic facts.

It was mentioned on the excellent Monday night club on Radio Fivelive recenly, and I have no reason to disbelieve them, that Palace last made a profit in season 2013/14 when we got promoted to the Premier League. Since then we have made a loss every season.

So having a go Parrish et al for not spending more and more without knowing all the facts is foolhardy at the very least!

If this is true it shows the club is poorly run.

Which it is.

We keep allowing players to go on free and over pay on wages.

I wouldn't trust the books we get to see.

You tell me - I haven't said that. Doombear did the research and I trust he will have gathered that through public domain information.

Yes, the squad needs some additions. That is still a possibility. I'm sure a lot of business will be transacted this week.

The financial worth of the Board is only partially relevant. They have other investments, some of which they have put more money into than Palace. That's their prerogative.

You have either ignored Doombears excellent summary of the clubs finances or you are simply blind to the facts - that's your problem.

Of course you have a right to your opinion, you obviously think the club is being badly run. I don't.

I just want to see a breakdown of how our wages are over 100 million a year, most sites I've seen have us as 60 mill, broken down to each player which looks about right, our net spend on transfers over the last 5 seasons are -85 mill, which is 17 mill a season, that added onto wages still doesn't take you anywhere near 100 million.
