Edit: I giggled for a short period even after posting. Edited by Nicholas91 (22 Aug 2023 12.36pm) apologies for any offence inadvertently caused. Well I'm glad you got my sense of humour anyway. It's so risky saying anything these days without running it past some sort of vetting procedure first. I know this more than anyone coming from the BBS. I think it's more his haircut than his head itself anyway isn't it. Anyway it's a no from me, even when we have zero goal threat from open play. Although watching Edouards headed attempt last time maybe having a huge forehead is an advantage.

Apparently Che Adams is now 'considering his various options!'

Absolutely, there's too many people in the world who either cannot think for themselves and therefore follow instruction to be offended or who see it as a pathway to a self importance/identity that they have failed to achieve elsewhere! This renders the sentiment behind anything as obsolete however I took that to be a harmless, humorous, almost self critical observation which I shared and therefore found very amusing. I understand why people say 'no' to Adams as the first thing that comes to mind with any striker is 'goals' and his record is less than impressive. I would argue however, having finally boarded the 'he's lazy' train for views on Edouard after Arsenal, that Adams' work-rate alone would be refreshing to see. The thought of him and Ayew both putting in shifts further up the pitch may actually be of huge benefit. It's therefore neither an endorsement or rejection from me however I think there's more food to the thought beyond 'will he get 20+ goals a season' which he won't, but neither will anyone else in our price bracket. At a cheaper price and in lieu of the next Haaland, I'm not too adverse in any instance.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Personally I would like to see us try to develop Plange, he was banging in the goals for Derby in the Championship but his career has unsusprisingly stalled/gone backwards since we signed him. Surely he is worth having as a bench option? I understand that every single club is looking for a 30 goal a season striker though. It's telling that our best players have been developed through the academy. A lot of the expensive signings like Sakho and Benteke have largely just cost millions with little return.

Plange is not having a great time at Carlisle. No goals, no assists and described as having no real strengths and numerous weaknesses. Obviously some other critic’s opinion however it doesn’t sound great. Did he just have 1 decent season at Derby and that’s it? Certainly wouldn’t be racing to bring him back hoping he’s the next Vardy.

I think Plange got his chance after the Derby fire sale and did quite well. It was during the Rooney era so maybe some decent mentoring. Did I just credit Wayne Rooney.

Is that all it was? I thought it was better than that. Derby fans were sad to see him go and clearly we signed him for a reason. However this is in no way about Che Adams.

Not quite correct as I seem to recall Benteke's 16 goals in his first season helped us avoid relegation.

This time last season a large part of the fanbase had seemingly got its wish with Benteke departing. This year it is Mateta's turn and in the meantime there has been very little improvement and zero investment in the centre forwards.

I guess you could argue about every single Palace player and the contribution they made/didn't make versus how much they cost the club in transfer fee plus wages over the life of their contract. Ultimately though I'm only really interested in discussing Che Adams head. FWIW imho the best striker bargain we ever bought in terms of goal return and footballing intelligence was Glenn Murray.
