Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I trust the team that brought us Eze. Olise, Guehi, Andersen and Doucoure to get more incomings right than wrong. Edited by doombear (26 Jul 2023 12.55pm)

We will likely make at least a 30m profit on him and have enjoyed the best parts of two seasons watching him develop. It's what's our new policy is about. We need to get used to it. I trust the team that brought us Eze. Olise, Guehi, Andersen and Doucoure to get more incomings right than wrong. Edited by doombear (26 Jul 2023 12.55pm) Yup, it would be gutting to lose him, especially for a fee that low (if the clause sill exists), but its good profit that allows us to invest in a couple of other players. I think we'll see more and more of this, (not saying he's in the same league) but Haarland had a clause to get out of Dortmond at c.£50m. IF he hadn't what would his market value be 150, 200, 250m? He would have effectively been too good to buy. Which is playing out currently with Mbappe. £250m Saudi offer, who else can get close to that? Is he worth that? Who knows....its only 2.5 Declan Rice's Alexis Mac Allister also recently went for c.£35m. Way below market value so I assume that was a release clause jobbie too.

Sky mentioned that Mbappe is unlikely do anything until next week because if he stays until Tuesday he'll be eligible for a £52,000,000 loyalty bonus. Loyal to the club paying him about £2,000,000 a week. What a trouper.

Lol if he had a release clause for £35m he’d have already been bought. He’s a quality player who makes the 1st team squad for the entire league. You seriously think when Chelsea spent £600m that they wouldn’t have picked him up then? It’s laughable. We knew last season that release clause was removed. Darren Ambrose has confirmed it. If he goes, it will be for his market value…£55-65m.

I don’t think there is a release clause, at least not at £35mill.If that level of clause existed , I’m not convinced Chelsea interest is there because if it was they would not be thinking about it, it would be done.

MacAllister had a £35m release clause, that’s why Brighton had to let him go. Agents are getting cute, they insert a release clause, so the club can’t hold onto a player and they get more money in fees. It’s a win win for agents.

I'm wondering if his release clause is only to Champions League sides which would complicate the transfer if he wants to go to Chelsea. In that respect, the issue would be what the player actually wants. It looks like he would prefer Chelsea but Man City are interested. So we would have to accept 35 mil from City but not Chelsea - almost bound to annoy Olise as he could reasonably say it's 35mil for one but not the other.

If that is the case, and the release clause is only to champions league clubs, then there is a good chance this doesn’t happen at all. At £35m, most European clubs will be ruled out. PSG stand out as a possible destination. In England, I can’t see it. Newcastle have higher priorities and are working under their FFP issues…the same goes for M.United. Arsenal don’t seem to need him in the first team. City…maybe. But I’m not sold. And again, if this is the detail in the release clause, why is it even being mentioned in connection to Chelsea? That makes about 100 websites full of s***e in the past week.
