It wouldn’t surprise me if there is an announcement in the first week of June that both Hodgson and Zaha are staying.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if there are renewals for Ward, Tomkins and possibly even Clyne. I don’t think the AWB deal will happen now.
I think both Luka and McArthur will go and will be replaced by Lerma or similar.
Just my opinion , and if it happens some may argue that it’s Parish doing things on the cheap with no significant transfer outlay.
There may be an element of truth in this.
However, the squad and manager are in a good place at the moment and surely the key thing is to retain that harmonious stability while retaining Guehi, Anderson, Eze and Olise.

If we were an established championship club, I would say go ahead, let Roy train P{addy up.. you have time to build something and cash in on the youth... in the prem a whole other story.

We just had an iconic player with no prem or real top flight managerial success flop at palace, to recreate that with Paddy would be crazy.

My best bet, send Paddy out to manage for a couple of years elsewhere and when the time is right for both parties, it may work out... but we need an experienced manager that is able to play to our strengths.

No more projects please.

Yep, there is no way anyone would be silly enough to even think about giving Paddy the role.

Not saying he isn't a promising manager in the making, but this is a prem job. And there are plenty of experienced managers out there.

I cant see any world where Tomkins gets a new contract

Tomkins wouldn’t be first on my list for renewal either.
The reasoning behind a renewal would be that we have been quite fortunate this season with Guehi and Anderson available nearly all the time.
This may not be the case I next season with injuries and suspensions.
We need 4 centre backs in the squad.
As one of the ‘reserve’ centre backs Richards has good potential but looks injury prone and we need one other experienced centre half as cover (although it must be acknowledged Tomkins isn’t exactly injury free either).
We could seek to buy an experienced centre half as cover or stay with the existing one in Tomkins.
Other options would be the inexperienced O’Brien or use of Ward as a fourth centre back but this smacks of a bare bones approach.

I concur with the general thrust of these sentiments.

I can understand supporters concluding that those in the twilight of their careers who have not featured regularly should be shown the door but they do offer invaluable experience, besides to replace two or three etc can cost a significant sum.

To be honest, everything we ever do smacks of a bare bones approach. We should be offloading Tomkins and bringing in O’Brien as 4th CB. Clyne or Ward (probably Clyne) should go and a new right back bought. Adaramola/Hannam either needs to be promoted to joining the first team or we need another left back. We haven’t even got onto the midfield or attack yet.

Hannan has announced on social media that he is leaving the club.
Adaramola couldn’t make the squad on loan with Coventry last season and appears to have gone backwards.
O’Brien is unproven and inexperienced.
I wouldn’t want to be throwing in these players into Premier League games with precious points at stake.
The reality is that only very exceptional players like AWB will emerge from the youth team as first team contenders.
If you get one of these every couple of seasons you’re doing well.
Anybody remember Sam Woods and Brandon Pierrick in the past few seasons?
Hailed as the future of the club I don’t know if they are still making a career in football.
With the new Academy up and running we’ll hopefully enhance the quality of the intake and be able to compete better with the likes of Chelsea and produce more first team contenders.
However, it’s still early days.

Yes, just read the piece that says he is definitely leaving the club. I must say there has to be something going on in the background with him because he looked decent a couple of seasons ago and yet last year he only managed something like 17 games for Bromley. It’s a shame, I genuinely thought he might make it.

It’s interesting what you say and a tad worrying that none of the current crop have made it into any decent level of football. Is that down to the initial scouting phase or is it so difficult to find rough diamonds and therefore becomes a numbers game with say 1 in 20 making it?

Agreed,Paddy needs managerial experience elsewhere for a few years, ensuring he has the credentials to perform at highest level.
A 4-1 thrashing at Arsenal on his CV,does not look promising at present time to be catapulted into manager at Palace with no experience at this very demanding lev.

I agree with this and have been saying as much myself. Its just romantic nostalgia from fans that want Paddy Mac. Based on what?
We are talking about a job in one of if not THE biggest/best leagues in the World.
You do not risk a £100m+ income on a complete novice. Its not just stupidity, its suicide.
Oooo, but I loved him as a player! Would people still be saying that if he had exactly the same playing career (or even a better one) at a different club? Of course not.

I concur with these sentiments.

Willo, i do not think it is inconceivable for Paddy to take over from Hodgson eventually, he is obviously not ready yet, but a manager/coach who hasn't worked at all in England fills me with Trepidation of the highest level.
