There is no doubt Palace have been playing with a lot more freedom , and most of the time more intent, since Roy, took the reins. We had a similar flow going under Patrick last season. But certainly the early results this season at Everton, and Forest, left doubts as to how things actually were with Vieras team, this before the appalling performances at home to Spurs, and Fulham, something really wasn’t right.
Regardless , if in that run of twelve without a win against the leagues form teams, we had replaced two of the losses to top six, with two wins against two of the sides we have in fact beaten since, as a more average fixture list would have done , we would have had 33 points and little chance of relegation when the axe fell on Viera. So in many respects Patrick may have been unlucky.
It was what it was, and the only real question was could he lift them out of the backs to the wall attitude that must have begun to take hold and produce a result such as the one at Leeds.? Obviously Parish didn’t think so, much as I don’t think Viera is a bad manager ,in this case Parish can’t be proved wrong.

With what he had to spend and the players he had at his disposal,i would put him on par with George Burley and Dario Gradi as worst palace manager in the last 45 years.

Well we will have to wait and see if any mug apoints him as manager, if they do lets see what happens.

If Lampard continues to get opportunities, then I imagine Vieira will too.

If he does he needs to think carefully about his support staff

Both of those managers could do no better than the second tier, Gradi helped us get relegated, and we still had some of the 'team of the eighties', Vince Hillaire for instance. Vieira finished 12th in the top league with us, twice. To put PV in the same league as them is plain stupid.

Has he shagged your wife or something? You seem to really hate him.

I dont remember Gradi or Burley, as awful as they were, getting any money for players, and i dont hate Vieira as a person, just the way he was managing our club, Attitude, Arrogance, Laziness, Stubbornness, lack of any tactical knowledge of where and how to play his players, lack of discipline, if the players have to go to the board to point out his deficiencies, it says it all, and no, he hasn't shagged my wife (to my knowledge)

Your job: post team of the week and extol the virtues of the player you chose.
You name: Garth Crooks
Your output: bang on about the Anderson punch,(I happen to agree), wax lyrical about Eze (who can deny) and then return to his well worn theme of how we were insane in ditch Vieira.

Does he actually follow the football results?

Ageist, dumb pr**k.

Crooks (your licence fee paid for this):

Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace): I saw the contact made by Joachim Andersen on Jefferson Lerma in Crystal Palace's 2-0 win over Bournemouth and could not believe no action was taken. It was made with a closed fist and landed square on Jefferson's nose and broke it. If it had been a middleweight boxing contest it would have scored three on the points card, and Jefferson would have been entitled to a count. In fact the player had to take one. I've seen some incompetence since the introduction of VAR but this takes some beating. While most of us were wondering how on earth the incident could have been judged to be anything other than a punch, the video assistant referee thought otherwise. Meanwhile Eberechi Eze was subjecting Bournemouth and thrilling the Crystal Palace crowd with his own brand of knockout blows. This kid looks better every time I see him. His second goal was a peach equalled only by the pass provided for him by Michael Olise. The way these two super youngsters are emerging at Palace is impressive. All they need now is a young manager to help them develop. Oh yes - they had one of them and decided to get rid of him.

No acknowledgement that under the young manager those 2 players went backward.

Yeah by leaving Eze on the bench.

Crooks is one of a number of Black media types who have been emboldened by the current climate to be openly racist.

What the hell are you talking about?

Crooks is just an idiot. Let's not bring some paranoid delusion into this.

It is unlikely that he would have referred to Lampard and Gerrard using the same language. Fact is that all 3 were great players but not so great managers. All 3 played under top managers and alongside top players, this doesn't automatically turn one into a top manager oneself. Crooks needs to shut up and stop making a fool of himself.

The last two sentences are nothing short of disgusting and totally disrespectful to one of England's most experienced and finest managers.

Does Crooks really think that an established EPL club can jeopardise their future and 'assume' a clearly struggling Vieira would have won these recent games as well, when if he didn't and the signs didn't look good relegation would be catastrophic for Palace. Investors would walk, all the good players would go and we would likely free fall to the EFL.
