That wasn’t the Royball I remembered. Great attacking performance. Selhurst rocking. Fairytale ending. Don’t you just love that winning feeling.

So just how bad is Viera? Roy has come in, organised us and hey presto, We've won ! Schlupp looked like a player transformed and Eze was magnificent, but also Anderson and Guehi seemed to understand where they needed to be ! also Mitchell who was prepared Thanks Roy To be fair, Schlupp was responsible for the Leicester goal. Watch the replay, he's standing in no man land and Pirera runs behind him and he doesn't move, until Pirera already has the ball (and then jogs toward him). Mitchell had to pick up the man running down the side, and Guehi and Anderson have to cover the six.

I was still cursing Mateta for that terrible header a minute earlier when he scored!! To be fair, considering Matetas touch is awful most of the time that was a great touch and turn when he recieved the ball from Ayew. He was nudged by the defender who also got a touch, hence the corner given

The squad he has now is better and that is why, really not hard to work out, not aiming that at you but all the fans who criticise him. Edited by Tickled pink (01 Apr 2023 6.56pm)

my record on here, of supporting Roy, seems to be well founded. Some HOL-Eagles seem to forget the size of our club and our financial resources.

Been saying this for some time now to anyone that would listen. When we had RLC, Cabaye, we played some lovely stuff under Roy, one of those games we hammered Leicester I believe. Unfortunately the loss of Wilf will probably make us revert back to a more defensive team, certainly away from home but today proved we can still play good football especially if Eze continues to perform like he did today. The co-commentator today (Gary Birtles?) made the point that as a player if you are given too many instructions and information of what to do on the pitch you can get confused and become frozen with indecision. He said under Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest each player was given simple instructions and allowed to express themselves more freely in their play and it worked. You suspect this sums up the difference between PV and RH. Vieira, and more probably his inadequate coaching team he surrounded himself with, over-complicating things. Whereas Roy adopts the more old school way of getting the basics right and trusting his players to follow his simpler instructions. Certainly Eze in particular looked a lot happier today and free to get on with how he wants to play than he has in recent months and same could be said about most of the rest of the team. He may be 75 years old but Roy also seems as enthusiastic as ever and that also seemed to have rubbed off on the players. It was good to see and hopefully this lifting of their mood will see them successfully through the remaining 9 matches

I've had it in the back of my mind that the players were going through the motions with PV. After his sacking and Roy coming on board, the team look to had got back the fighting spirit. Same thing happened at Chelsea with Mourinho, they started to play negative football then, picked up once he was out the door. I'm hoping this is the case for us and we are on a roll

Fine result, congratulations to Roy, Ray, and the team. Roy obviously encouraged them to get forward and not be afraid to shoot.

Absolutely overjoyed with that win. Should have been out of sight by half time. Palace with a +28 shot difference today, the biggest by any PL team in any PL game this season.

Just got back from the match and have to say that was a totally different performance to the pile of crap we have been watching most of the season. Plaudits in particular to Eze and Edouard (who finally realised that if you run you have a chance of closing down and winning the ball), Schlupp who I thought played great first half but tired, Doucoure who dominated the midfield, Wilf who looked more dangerous than most of the other games he’s played, Mateta’s lovely cameo and our solid back 4 who, apart from Wards massive lack of pace looked secure throughout. A very good performance with 31 shots on goal, 9 on target versus 3 shots, 2 on target. If Leicester had got anything out of that game I would have felt aggrieved but ultimately I was elated with the final score. Not sure how much Roy has changed the team, but he has certainly brought some effort and vigour to the team. Well done Palace, a much deserved much required win. Got to listen to John Salako’s take on the match afterwards, who was gutted that Vieira had gone but agreed we needed a change and saw the match as a Vieira team playing in a more free manner. Never thought one of Roy’s teams would do that but I’ll give him his dues, he picked an attacking lineup from the start and didn’t really stray from the path. I thought we were poor, first 15 of the second half but then we dug in and it was fantastic to see us going for the win. Well done players and management. Edited by Eaglecoops (01 Apr 2023 7.25pm)
