Rodgers has a decent track record, Vieira has a record of failure In the last 3 seasons his Leicester team has finished 5th twice and 8th once and also won the FA Cup. He has still got excellent players in the squad, Tielemans, Maddison,Barnes,Dewsbury-Hall,Vardy etc etc. They sold Fofana to Chelsea but purchased Faes and he has performed with aplomb. I have never felt that Leicester would be relegated this season and have fully expected them to climb the table. I suspect Rodgers was of similar mind when results were not going their way.

I really did see PV in a different light on Saturday where I thought we just looked mentally frail as a team albeit highly fortuitous. I suppose time will always tell and give us the fuller picture. Vieira has always promoted the idea of players being braver with the ball, but when you're on a bad run that becomes harder to take on board, and even harder when you're Mateta or Schlupp and are actually not very good with the ball. I think confidence is a massive issue and a new manager might give the squad a short-term lift, but I think it would be a sticking plaster and the fact is that right now we're pretty much in the same position we've been for the last few years. The reality is that however we might be playing, based on the investment in the squad, we are punching above our weight every season we finish outside the bottom four or five. Last season shows how good we can be with a cash injection, but we seemingly can't be like West Ham, Wolves or Villa and do that every season. Everton and Leicester are examples of what happens when you stop spending big money. Brighton and Brentford both kept faith in their managers and had a clear focus of where they want to get to. I believe that we have a direction and that the club is not just doing like it used to do and bringing in firefighters, but whether that plan comes off remains to be seen. Sacking a manager for being 12th when we have been one of the lowest spenders in the league would make us look a bit mental and it is just not going to happen.

If the manager loses it he invariably loses the squad. Right now I still see a manager who the players respect. On Saturday I saw a team trying, we just looked so low on confidence that we couldn't find our man with our passes and were making mistakes. Also, I would maybe check Rodgers first two jobs, the first he was sacked for an awful run of form and the second was by mutual consent after disappointing form. Few good managers are great straight away.

Palace since PV took over compared to Brighton over the same period:
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

Palace since PV took over compared to Brighton over the same period: Brighton and Palace are at different stages. Brighton took the decision to go in a different direction when they got rid of Hughton and brought in Potter. The transformation was not overnight and it is only recently that they've started selling players for big money. Look back and you'll see they were outspending us by quite a bit. That is what patience gets you. Some Brighton fans wanted Potter out at various stages because they got restless, but the decision to be patient and stick to the plan is now paying dividends. Knee-jerk reactions to every bad spell of form is what can sink a club.

Few good managers are great straight away. What a manager says to the media and what he says to his players can be totally different things. Take Saturday as an example. PV looked for the positives in a performance which we all know and could see wasn't anything to write home about. In any walk of life, when things aren't going well the person at the top has to keep a clear head and stay calm. That applies to Steve Parish as well of course. Ultimately my view on PV will be more fully formed at the end of the season.

Palace since PV took over compared to Brighton over the same period: This is because the board took the decision to employ experienced run-of-the-mill players, at some cost and with little to no resell value, in a bid to cement our place in the PL. It worked for a time. Now they have realised that the actual way forward and to have some loose change for a rainy day is to bring forward the academy and to buy cheaply where possible and hopefully bring those players on and follow the model set by other clubs. There's nothing original in this vision, other clubs lead the way, it's just that our board have only just caught up.

As we keep being informed, "Football is a results business" and has been demonstrated recently, if results are not positive, it is the manager who pays the price. In terms of Vieira, he will be our manager for the foreseeable future. There is no indication that the hierarchy have even considered his position.

If we lose our next 3 games then I can see some serious questions being asked. Parish sacked Pardew when it became clear that he had lost confidence in him. He may well do the same with Vieira. But not at this moment which is what some on here are advocating

But not at this moment which is what some on here are advocating Pardew was removed from his position when we were 17th after 17 games and had lost 8 of the previous 10 games, conceding 24 goals in the process. He was relieved of his duties before the January transfer window.

Firstly the board don't make a habit of publicizing their unhappiness with the manager and secondly there were rumours doing the rounds in January that the reason that very little money was spent was because the board were not convinced that Vieira was "the one" Personally I don't believe the rumour as it's my belief that the reason for the lack of spending is more likely to do with Parish's empty wallet
