I have a hunch that the way is being paved for Derry to take over, PV seems to make the same mistakes over and over, and Derry has experience with the youth. Derry has failed as a manager in the lower leagues more than once so what makes you think he would be a success in the much tougher Premier League

It wouldn't surprise me if they saw Southgate at England thought they could 'grow' their own manager - stick him in courses, get him working from the bottom up and have an ethos.

This will prove to be a blessing, as we can start from scratch with sensibly priced youngsters. In the meantime drop those who clearly are not up for the battle ahead; in particular Zaha and Eze who offer next to nothing. I have a hunch that the way is being paved for Derry to take over, PV seems to make the same mistakes over and over, and Derry has experience with the youth. I agree that those players going out contract will be a blessing but there is no guarantee that Parish won't extend some and frankly those who are out of contract are either past it or the are on sick notes. However, can't see Derry being the answer either, he has no experience as far as I'm aware managing at this level. Assuming of course we don't get relegated which is now looking a real possibility. The talent these days is scattered worldwide and I do not believe that we have the expertise or networking with Freeman and Parish to know how to source such bargains (which do exist as Brighton and Brentford seem to understand and exploit very effectively). Statistics say that our own academy will not provide anywhere near enough talent to provide us with a competitive EPL side. This means that if we are to replace those who are out of contract and fill the existing holes in the squad then the owners are going to have to splash the cash. Then there is the added distraction of the stadium and its updating which will cost a fortune that we will be unable to do if we are in the championship and anyway what's the point of having a flash ground if its half empty because it has costs us our EPL status and revenue. I do not know what the grounds arrangements are between CPFC 2010 and CPFC Selhurst Park Ltd, the latter is a small company that owns the ground (Directors Parish/Blitzer/Harris/Textor), the company has a Debenture secured on the ground registered in Luxembourg. So on the surface it seems that whatever happens with the football club the ground is secured for those named directors above and as we all know SE26 real estate is a great investment even in these difficult times. What is really going on?

It is nice to dream but we are what we are a mid to lower league team who does not have the financial resources to achieve a higher league position. The performance today was ok and in line with what you would expect with the quality of players we have against a club with infinite resources. Until we have owners that can buy quality players at will I am afraid the narrative after every match we play win or lose is going to be the same. As it stands just enjoy supporting the team we have who is Crystal Palace and let’s not expect us to be be something we are not.COYP

We don’t play as a team. Just a bunch of disjointed individuals who keep giving the ball away with poor touches and passes I think we’re buggered. Parish doesn’t appear to have any money. He made a bit in the 1990’s on IT agency staff but let’s face it, he’s no Rockefeller. The Yanks seem to have little appetite to spend and who can blame them when Freedman buys donkeys like Richards for £12m. . What a dumb arse purchase that was! Maybe it’s our time to go down. You gets what… in our case, you don’t pay for. We stand a chance if Parish summons the guts to sack PV and his useless side-kick Osian Roberts. Get someone in who at least can make our average players play like a team. Edited by NE14T (15 Jan 2023 5.53pm) Edited by NE14T (15 Jan 2023 5.53pm)
