What an absolute disaster... a month off, hyped up friendlies, plans to improve and hit the ground running..

No leadership, no plan b, no depth, no idea.

This was once a quality forum....

They may not be the best but why are we not playing at least one of strikers? This plus the tactic of constantly trying but rarely succeeding from playing out from the back adds up to a negative approach to games

Doucoure has replaced Kouyate. Replacements for Gallagher, Benteke and McArthur were ignored. Throw in two ageing right backs and no cover at left back and the fact that Luka, Tomkins and Riedeweld are now probably championship players at best.
The squad was neglected.
What has shocked me is his the passing football we played last year has been abandoned.
Looks like there will be no investment in the January window either. I suspect Dyche may be brought in to try and save it and we will be back where we were 2 years ago if we stay up, playing anti football. The fault rests with the board.

This is a very fair summary, the board at this football club have been woeful with investment in the first team. Window after window in recent times we have underperformed and have relied much to much on loans and unproven PL players and I'm afraid that this is catching up and if we are not careful we will have a poshest ground (if Parish gets his way!)in the championship or even league 1 with 12000/15000 regular supporters. Our American owners are very wealthy but do not want to put money in to buying quality players. The first team squad is very weak with only about 5 or 6 of them being of good enough quality to play regular football in EPL. If Parish thinks he can get away in next window with the odd loan deal he is being delusional we are just six points off the relation spot. Blaming the Manager is easy, but frankly like those before him the board has not really backed him at the level required in transfer windows and now time is running out!

Fulham were purring from the off I wondered how long for and we started to get going, before slack passing let them in.

Tomkins red was ridiculous, Mitrovic fooled the ref I didn't think from the replay, that he actually impeded him.

A day when everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.

I think we all need a little rant to get this out of our system. That was f***ing horrendous. I'm about to go and have Christmas dinner with the family and need to snap out of the f***ing aggressive rage that is burning through me right now.

Some points that crossed my mind, shared in no particular order, with no particular agenda...

Fulham's support is s***. Non-existent.

If we had won today, that would have been 4 in a row at home. We're not that bad. We were just bad today. This result is not a sackable offence.

Our squad is just woeful. Despite having just had a massive break, we looked so under-prepared. There is zero depth.

None of the decisions were horrendous, but to be on the wrong side of 3 of them, is massively unfortunate to say the least. As far as I'm aware, the VAR decision was only the 3rd time the ref has held firm. I know this will become more frequent, but today of all days, FFS. I thought it was handball. His arm literally helped cushion the trajectory of the ball.

I don't think I've ever seen Palace down to 9. At one point, it occurred to me that the worst-case scenario was happening in front of my eyes. Then it dawned on me that we could have been playing Man City, and I was thankful for small mercies.

Our squad is just woeful. This time last week, I watched Descamps make two subs on 40 minutes, and they almost changed the path of history. In the midst of a crisis, our bold move was to bring on 33 y.o. Joel Ward for 31 y.o. Nathanial Clyne. Before the game, I was concerned as to where the pace in defence was going to come from. Then the only one who can actually sprint a little bit, got himself sent off. I'm not knocking Vieira, that's just the hand he's got. There's just nothing behind the first 11. At one point, Will Hughes was simultaneously the freshest pair of legs on the pitch, but also the slowest. Milivojevic hasn't been the answer to a question since 2019. Our Plan B players are Has-Beens.

Nigel Spackman thinks Chris Richards is Omar Richards.

Our squad is just woeful. I think that's Tomkins last start for the club. Everyone saw that coming. Look, I know it's easy to make suggestions after the event, especially when there's no way of proving the value of the point either way... but Kouyaté & Gallagher were our centre mid last year. We lost two and replaced them with one. He was imperfect, but we should have kept Kouyaté for another year. He'd have done a better job in defence than an increasingly-immobile Tomkins. During the injury crisis under Hodgson at the start of 2019 (or whenever it was), his ability to operate in either midfield or defence was crucial. A couple of years later, this was completely forgotten.

I thought Chris Richards played okay. After his Man City cameo, followed by weeks of injury, I was worried he was useless.

Zaha is too old for this s***. Running around, chasing shadows, getting nothing. He's had too many nights like this. If he is having a dilemma about his future, the decision to leave became just a little more logical this Christmas.

Ok, thank you for listening, I feel a bit better now.

I have to laugh that every time we play badly the ref. gets the blame !

None so blind that cannot see - the ref. was no worse than average and most of his crucial decisions were correct.

The days when Ayew and Zaha got free kicks for falling over are gone !

What benefit did we get from the mid -season friendlies ? The manager said he was happy but now must look at himself urgently.

However if we can get Wan-Bissaka on loan and a half decent midfield general, and of course play with sense and discipline, then we can survive

If this was Zaha's swan-song I won't be surprised, he gets no service, neither did Edouard or Mateta before him.

I'm backing TheBigToePunt and Goal Machine.

If Ayew's first-half effort had hit the back of the net instead of the crossbar, it might have been a different story.

Every season, we always put in a few dire performances (as do most teams), but the secret is to learn lessons, even if it's the hard way.

Let's get behind our club, our team, our players, our manager, our chairman.

COYP!
