All that we will prove by keeping Southgate on for the World Cup is what we know already. His brand of football will win nothing. It's a free hit anyway. This World Cup will be a farce. No one should be taking part. Good call.

Not sure about the 'Talent' we have right now. Central Defence options are soo poor that you have to persist with Walker at RB as 'speedy' cover, rather than play someone like TAA for a bit of attacking threat. The 'golden generation' was a lot more of a wasted opportunity. The Germany game epitomised this for me. we pretty much played the same team as the euros when we won. Germany were rubbish that day. This is exactly what I've been saying. The squad of players are vastly overrated. Our CMs work hard, get about the pitch but they once again lack the technical ability to keep ball and control games, something that has been Englands downfall for as long as I can remember. If I were Southgate, I would ignore the media/fans, stick to his guns and play defensive, looking to hit on the counter and nick a goal. It's tournament football, playing pretty football isn't necessary.

Gareth is an intelligent man that looks the part and says all the right things. From an FA perspective. Based upon his achievements as a manager in club football, he should be nowhere near the England job. If we are going to stick with the Gareth ' type ', then Graham Potter is the heir apparent in my opinion. The difference being that I think Potter has better tactical nous than Southgate. Whether he could handle the egos of the players would be a question mark but I can see this happening after the World Cup

We need something to change. England have been unable to move forward with any kind of identity since '96.

Yes if he gets them through to Feb, they have bought a few more players, are better placed in the league & are ready for their next level of progression it could certainly be considered a win win for both parties. Originally posted by NEILLO
