They are council tenants and beyond getting another council house nearby, I'm not really sure they should be getting anything other than moving costs. If they owned the houses - well and good.

Precisely. There's gripes in the report about them not being kept informed about the club's plans (etc etc). Well the detail of the club's plans are of no relevance to them, beyond the "plan" by which they are given another house somewhere else subsidised by the council tax payer.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Seriously I can see the logic to your point and would certainly be worth a closer look

I'm not sure why the club would want to relocate to a dump like Croydon. The place has been ruined. It would just be swapping one dump for another.
If thy were ever serious about a move then they should be looking to go to an area that is more accessable to a wider area of the South East and have space to expand.

Having a Premier League football team with a new ground and a totally new development around it - shops, park, hotel, catering could massively improve the area - which is, as we all can see, a bit rubbish.
The council are just basically anti football and unhelpful. I would offer them plans of a massive regeneration - let them refuse it, make it public, and then relocate. See what everyone thinks of that.

Funnily enough was having this discussion with the wife earlier. Her only knowledge of Palace is what I tell her ( although she doesn’t believe we are in the CL )
She suggested looking at some of the land towards M25 after Coulsdon, Hooley way

Waste of time and money.

Need new location.

They can suggest many things but you have to deal with the real world you can't really do anything transport wise and the cost is not worth it for one stand.

A lot of this is all about SP not what is good for the clubs future which is a new ground is required and it needs to happen soon to try be selected for Euros as one of the grounds plus costs are rising.

A new ground in London, ten minutes walk from THREE mainline railway stations, I don’t think so

Have you ever been to Selhurst? Seriously? Because about the one thing it doesn't have an issue with is public transport. Trains and buses all over the place. As for cars and parking, well, policy these days is to try to discourage driving but unless you're going to go well away from the Selhurst area (outside the M25) you're going to have the same issues with traffic volume wherever you are. And I don't think many of us would want that sort of relocation.

Options to me are 1. Liverpool (which is what we're doing essentially). Rebuild the existing stadium stand-by-stand and keep the home we all love or 2. Tottenham (rip and replace on the same site) which, given the likely cost, is probably an even less attractive option than 1. Option 3, the totally new stadium on a totally new site is, for me at least, by far the least appealing of all. That, admittedly, is just my personal taste.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

Yes I have from a child on wards.

You are delusional the transport is awful.

I have used public and my own transport.

When we was in Championship I booked a box and parking spot I had to turn up 3 hours before to get in and it still was not great.

If you live just up the road may not be an issue or a few other places in London but otherwise terrible.

This is why you even hear players etc mention about it and Sky people say how terrible it is.

I met up with friends and they even said about how awful the transport was they have been to groups all over the world.

On paper it may sound good 3 stations etc but its not and really is not fit for disabled people.

Its a limitation of the area.

I have said that for years but the remaining local support has never been happy with that idea. When I lived in walking distance of the ground, I suppose it suited me fine, but football is a different game now. You have to grow as a club or you sink. Ultimately, Selhurst will be a ball and chain to our progression.

You're talking tripe mate. Selhurst is serviced by Selhurst, Thornton Heath and Norwood Jn stations, all walking distance. Parking is fine. If you get there between 1pm and 2pm (for a 3pm ko) there is always spaces in Sainsbury.
People that say Selhurst is terrible to find and to get to are either armchair fans that never go or they are Northern fans that do not understand the London rail network.
I wonder which one you are
