These threads are amusing . When we win, top ten finish is a certainty in most peoples opinion. When we lose narrowly, players are rubbish a clear out is needed etc The general consensus before kick off was it was a good line up, but it turns out that we lost to a wonder goal, suddenly PV doesn’t know what he is doing.
What most posters don’t realise is that there are so many variables that effect the result, our form ( varies hugely ) the opposition’s form, refereeing decisions etc. As it has been constantly stated, we are a new team with work in progress, there is still certain amount of niavity in our play, survival was the priority this season, allowing changes to bed in.
A realistic view is needed, as Palace aren’t going to win every game, in fact we have won very few this season.

This reminds me of an incident perhaps going back to the 70s.
There was large building in Streatham (Near Crown Point) which was known as the "Home for Incurables".

I was in the phonebox in the adjacent Public House carpark in a fit of fury about a result, almost certainly beetroot-gilled,blood-pressure raised.The chap on the end of the phone told me that if I was not careful I would end up in the building next door !

I used to frequent this pub by Crown Point and once bumped into Peter Taylor and Dave Swindlehurst there.
At the time there was speculation that Taylor was leaving and I asked him about the story.
He said ‘ I don’t know what the f…. is going on.’
The Conquering Hero pub on Beulah Hill was also a regular haunt.

That’s a fair enough summary from Newcastle fans from that second half. It really was that final ball and perhaps to slow in the build up allowing Newcastle to get players behind the ball. Don’t like our combinations in midfield. I always feel we don’t play the best midfield players alongside each other and then take of one or two of them bringing on someone like Macca who would benefit still having them on the pitch. The substitutions never seem to make us a better team at present. On Sunday we brought on more forward players leaving one midfield type player on the pitch. And then when I thought Luka was coming on for one of those forwards he took of Kouyate. For me having Gallagher, Kouyate and Macca together or even Hughes or Schlupp gives more balance and these players can get into the box as well as making crucial passes to create chances. All we end up with when we bring to many forwards on is our back four hitting long balls which are easily dealt with. Both Chelsea and Newcastle were there for the taking in the last two matches and we blew it with strange formations and substitutions in my opinion :-( Let’s hope we get back to winning ways next Monday?
