There will be some acknowledgement and establishment of context, but the story won't be erased. It will be updated and continued. This is a journey, not a destination. It isn’t an assumption that Glasgow City Council is facing a £20,000,000 shortfall in it’s budget and has far more urgent social problems to address. That’s Ok the English taxpayers will pick up the tab !

For want of a better expression it’s the thin end of the wedge - start off at one extreme and eventually more and more people get included. In this case someone who was explicitly anti-slavery.

The one thing that has been missed by you all is the people who drive this issue into the open , do it just to make a name for themselves , I have many friends from diferent back grounds and when i bring up about slavery they say , they embarrassed by it because they are not speaking for them , only themselves. so were do we stop , do we criminalise everyones back ground im sure we all have a link to wrong doing in history thats not PC , dont remove history learn from it

As it seems the idea is to consult the local people and ask them what they would like to do, what do you expect their answer will be? Is it not possible that this is all to demonstrate how those who want to pull things down are in a tiny minority?

they believe the statue of David Livingstone statue in Glasgow should be removed because of his link to slavery? Don’t know about woke But anyway no, it should not be removed. And it won’t be removed Like almost all councils that are in towns which benefited significantly from slavery Glasgow City Council commissioned a report on the remaining links to slavery It just so happened that Glasgow University had already done a report on its own historic benefits from slavery, in 2018. The same researcher, Stephen Mullen, was commissioned to produce the report in 2019. Dr Stephen Mullen found that eight statues and a number of streets could be considered to have links to slavery The Council will now consult with its residents on whether any action is needed and if so what. The Daily Mail has claimed the statue of David Livingstone ‘might’ be removed. In the same way as I ‘might’ shag Scarlett Johansson. It has done this as click bait to wind up as many Mr Angries as it can. Even though the Council made no comment about Livingstone and the report was the work of Glasgow University..

I don't mean to be cruel but I should think David Livingstone himself has more chance of reassembling from his original atoms, sliding into bed with the wanton Scarlett Johansson and saying, 'Dr Livingstone? Let's presume all night' than you have of introducing Johansson to bodily fluids.

You are trying, and failing spectacularly, to be funny, because all you are saying, in a convoluted way, is precisely what Maple himself said. Cue the attempted smart-arse reply!
