But in your case you appear to have learned when debate becomes corrosive and is no longer constructive and you do have humour on occasion. And you don't convert every single thread into one about race/religion. Edited by Mapletree (01 Apr 2022 10.06am)

Edited by Mapletree (01 Apr 2022 10.06am) It's just reality that this site has seen many lefty posters who are just as robust as Hrolf. However, I note that any poster on the right who is similar gets this same selective treatment.

Indeed, some act like this is the UN or something. Unfortunately some people just get very emotionally involved over text.....possibly down to a lack of text.

And laughable. Wisbeach is a relative newcomer and, to be fair to him, has no issue dishing it out and taking it. We are often on opposite sides of an argument, but at least he is prepared to argue and not resort to the sort of pathetic twaddle that the likes of Maple and Bluejay do. That's not any sort of approval for Wisbech's dubious relationship with the truth by the way. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (01 Apr 2022 9.13am) You started quite well. Pity you spoiled it by having to revert to type with the snide remarks. One day you will wake up and realise that what you regard as "twaddle" and "dubious" are, at best, your own opinions and nothing more. Opinions that many, even here, often regard as particularly odious.

'Odious' is the kind of word used by people who believe that they are morally superior, and that is just a delusion of the narcissistic mind.

As I have only seen one poster here in recent times I would regard as truly being a "lefty", this is victimhood in spades! Most here are on the right. Some on the cusp of the extreme right. There are a few who stand on the central ground of common sense and reasonableness. The problem, as always, is that if you stand close to the extremes that anyone who doesn't will always appear to be part of the group you disapprove of. If I post in a Corbyn supporters group (less so these days, for obvious reasons) I am regarded as a hard-line capitalist.

We can only live in hope. The great thing is that you wake up around 30,000 times in an average life, so there are lots of opportunities for that flash of reality to strike and lead you to the truth. Odious is entirely accurate for the kind of attitudes you frequently display here. Everyone who have any morals is morally superior to those who don't.

No. Truth ideally is provable beyond a reasonable doubt. However, what is true cannot always be proven and is often obfuscated by those who wish to hide it. You know what the old saying is about opinions.

There is no truth though, it’s all just opinion, isn’t it. Morality for one is highly subjective. An “I am right and you are wrong” attitude dooms us to not learning anything. I’m not saying you said that by the way, it’s a general attitude for discussion.
