Thorn and Young were pretty good. And there's alway big Jim C. But Guehi is good.

Thorn used to do the near post flick ons at corners.
Worked quite well especially if I remember at villa Park for super Al.
Eric the ninja could put it about a bit. Wore a leather head band for extra butting power when heading the ball, sometimes.

I recall the near post flick-ons.
Thorn went on to manage Coventry and Kidderminster.
At Coventry he signed Hermann Hreidarsson from Portsmouth.

It was Malcom Allison's first match in charge.
When Cannon scored, some reprobate celebrating by my side managed to trod on my foot with his large boot and the pain was excruciating.Fortunately no lasting damage.

Was you standing on the Holmesdale that day Willo, if so it might well have been me

Indeed it was Thorn who flicked the ball on and Pardew scored.
What an encounter !

Still remember side commentator Terry Venables saying after Pardew bundled the ball in the net behind Grobbelaar: "Think Palace is going to Wembley!"

Southgate was at the game to i presume to cast his eyes over Kilman but i am sure he must have left feeling both Mitchell and Guehi might be better prospects. One thing from a Palace perspective is that the players who were largely rested from the Stoke game i.e. Gallagher, Schlupp, Mitchell and Guaita all had excellent games.
