How often does Gallagher not defend the referee?

I have read quite a few times whereby Gallagher has stated that a decision was incorrect.

Absolutely. I honestly cannot believe that Friend can repeatedly look at the footage and not see what football fans, ex-players, managers, pundits and referees have seen. My impression is that he didn't have the strength of character to go by his initial decision and was in collusion with Pawson to award the penalty. What did they see that no one else has seen? The condemnation of the decision is across the board, and incidents like this bring the game into disrepute. Is the FA paying attention?

You have to remember we were constantly chanting ‘whose the scouser in the black’.
Having the truth ringing in your ears in the world of brown paper bags must surely affect your decision. Simples.

It was a genuine question. Whenever I’ve seen him he’s twisted himself into a pretzel to explain/excuse their decisions. What he can’t explain is their inconsistency- or is it consistency?

Aye, it really is that simple.

As I recall if a ref has a bad game in PL he is inflicted on the Championship for a while which is not going to help

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

That must thrill the clubs involved - he’s not good enough for the big boys so you can have him instead.

I for one never doubted it was a genuine question and as I stated Gallagher has gone against the referee's decision on a number of occasions over the years.

Apropos "Inconsistency", my opinion, for what it is worth,is that whenever subjective decisions are being made there will always be a level of inconsistency.

Contrary to what is often portrayed on HOL, I have never asserted that referees are infallible, they are human after all and err from time to time in pressure situations.
Maybe I have given this impression and if so it is more a case of me not expressing myself as well as others do.I have to bow down to others in this respect.

I agree that they do a very difficult job very well most of the time. The frustration is that VAR was intended to help them and it’s not being properly applied.
There are some occasions when subjectivity shouldn’t be involved - offside being one of them but the tweaking of the rules regarding active and non-active players brings it in more and more.
The bottom line for me: is football better to watch since VAR or not?

Seems the LiVARpool influence over VAR has even reach South America . . .

No wonder Alisson thinks it is good for the game!
