Could be. But I think McArthur, Beneteke and probably Luka will prove to be better than the much-hyped replacements.

Yes McArthur has been great. If the other 2 are better than those bought to replace them, we are in trouble.

you're probably right Casual, but some people have rose-tinted spectacles that seem to be stuck on their noses however ineffective certain players have been.

I’m guilty of that. But then you have to be glass half full for a new signing no? I mean I was for Benteke but I finally admit 4 goals in 3 seasons doesn’t work for an out and out striker.

I totally agree. Guaita has been wonderful for us for a few years and one bad goal clearance ???

On the whole Guaita has been good for us, but there have been the other odd clanger in the last couple of seasons other than his suicidal clearance against Brighton. Still I wouldn't replace him with Butland at the moment.

The only clubs that are afforded mistake less keepers all belong in the top six, if any keeper not in that position starts to impress by playing perfectly they won't be with that club for very long, Zaha can play perfectly but it's his off ball skills that destroys his big move, how many Leicester players were still playing for them two seasons after winning it?

Benteke isn't used to just score goals, if he was he'd be long gone.

Able to be the player we all loved again, missed him hugely.

Seems that it may be time to get another Eze thread - back in full training.

I'm guessing after the next international break is a realistic target to see him on the pitch. That'd be game week 12 away to Burnley - just about when our fixtures look very positive

Can't wait to see him playing again. He was looking really sharp just before the injury.

The new way we are playing is really going to suit his style and he could go on to even better things.

Everything on the up in my eyes. Well done Parish, Freedman & Co.

Some people are like Slinkies … not really good for anything, but you can’t help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs.

seriously? Based on everything we've seen of Benteke over the last few years, where he has proved beyond doubt (except you) that he is utterly useless in fulfilling the basic requirement of his position, you still doubt that the chap who bagged a brace on his debut will be any better? Did you also think that there was no one who could do a better job at Palace than Roy too?

Specifically, how would Benteke 'prove' that he is better than the likes of Edouard? Because he's going to need to do something that he hasn't been able to do for years to 'prove' that.

You're speaking rubbish. Both the previous and current manager have said on numerous occasions what he brings to the team. And both have stated satisfaction with his performances. I like most Palace fans hope Eduoard shines and keeps Benteke out...I really do. I just think after a dream debut...we're yet to be fully convinced.

Hold on: "he has reportedly recovered from achilles injury ahead of schedule". Who has reported it? The Sun. About a hundred miles from what Vieira said last Friday.
