The darts on Sky is pretty bad.

They have someone called Laura Turner (who is a pro) who averages less than most decent pub players. But she ticks the boxes.

Her commentary includes gems such as

“If he hits what he needs he will win this leg”
“He needs to win this one or he will lose”

Coupled with the fact she can’t count and is crap at the game, it’s not something that adds anything - other than a box tick.

I just thought you need to shout in a Northern accent to commentate on darts. Then there is some kind of dodgy cockney on the panel, who gave up drinking last week but smokes twenty a day, to even things up.

I think they needed to freshen it up, I would have probably changed one over the next three seasons tho. The only pundits who provide entertainment is Kammy, Merse and Jeff.

The others could swap and change for all I care. I also think with streaming services, BT and Amazons coverage, the show itself is dying out. You don’t really need SSN anymore, it’s at our fingertips every second of everyday. Even the transfer window is cringe viewing.

During lockdown, I don’t think I watched sky sports at all. They have probably have lost millions in cancelled subscriptions. I reckon you can get an ex pro to talk football on TV for pittance these days. Those three were probably on good money and they are cutting back whilst doing what all shows are doing these days.

Like my friend at OFCOM always says, if you don’t like it, you can always watch or listen to something else.

There's an Asian girl on the cricket, I've always thought she has quite a sexy voice. Different strokes I guess.

Isa Guha, does a very good job on cricket commentary. Knowledgable, bit of banter and a voice that could lure many a seaman onto the rocks. A great advert for what female commentators can bring to the table.

I love women and have 'loved' many of them.
I just don't want to see them talking about mens's football.
They have never played men's football. There is no comparison.
Also, 95% of them are ugly lesbians with awful haircuts which is not what I personally want to see on my TV.

Exactly. Faces for radio and then I don’t want to listen to them either, so that leaves absolutely nothing that they bring to the table.

There was a female one for the 20/20 yesterday who, unfortunately, did not have such a sultry voice. I'm not going to go into sexuality or whatever, but she needed to have a sound check before being on such a prestigious broadcast as Test Match special. In the 6th over, she thought it was the fifth as the scoreboard said 5.1, 5.2 etc. Even the co-presenters could not help but take the piss - quite badly actually.

Good riddance to Nicolas and Thompson, they were both incomprehensible when excited because of their accents.

Hope Sky don't recruit Shearer, he is a pompous bloke with little to contribute.

Clinton is fair enough once you get used to his way of speaking.

Happy with women as soccer pundits but should not be allowed anywhere near match commentaries, far to shrill when excited.

Do you honestly think that the current panel are being sacked because of their ability? I don't think you actually do.
That would be a disingenuous position because we all know why they are going. Anyone who has watched SSN for five minutes lately knows why that are going.

The point is, you actually don't.

You can have an opinion, but unless you're running Sky, you genuinely don't know. Given all you have is an opinion, and have no idea of the quality of who is coming in, getting this upset over it is barmy.

Well I am fairly sure they will not be replaced by 3 white men who have played at a high level and are steeped in knowledge of the game and with the ability to provide insight as well as entertainment.

SKY are a private corporation with shareholders. The general rule of capitalism is that it follows the money. There may be an array of CSR activity, but if they think it will harm profit margins then I don't believe they will proceed. These changes could be about diversity or they could (and probably more likely) are about modernising and trying to win back viewers. So many of the old white men commentating and discussing football these days sound so out of touch. Younger ex pros like Jenas, Danny Murphy, Richards and Neville make far more sense and don't just sound like a bunch of moany old gits. I appreciate there are lots of moany middle-aged white men who relate to these figures, but maybe you will still get 'one of your own' so you don't feel too victimised.

Merson wasn't fired, so he's still representing us !

As I posted previously, I wasn't a big fan of Thompson and Nicholas ( although Thommo is a top guy way from football ).

What I liked about the show was the ' clubbyness ' of it and the chemistry between whoever was on there, brilliantly led and fostered by Jeff Stelling.

If Sky go down the route that some ( myself included ) think they will, it's hard to see how that can be replicated. And for that reason, I won't be as inclined to watch as I used to be.

If Sky intend to replace Le Tissier, Nicholas and Thompson with what they feel are more relevant people who watch football nowadays, perhaps they should look at the demographics of who actually attend football matches - white males are the majority of paying customers I would say.
