I'm genuinely not a supporter of the man but will admit he has exposed certain things I agree with... He has, rightly or wrongly got an extremely large support so this type of behaviour shouldn't be a surprise.

Let's face it I can't imagine it was a particularly big section of fans doing it.. What it boils down to is people's threshold on being offended...

I think that people forget that unless it's a crime being offended is subjective... For what one person finds offensive the person next to them doesn't...

Being offended doesn't give anyone any certain rights but society has made people believe it has nowadays..

It's just a whinge really and nothing more..

I have said many times that he has exposed nothing. All he has done is get in the way of justice, jumping on the bandwagon as soon as a 'suitable' case came to light. If he truly cared about abused children for example he would care about all cases not just the primarily Muslim grooming groups.

He received huge funding from the Facebook donate button - only intended for charities. He gets considerable support from Russia as well as the US and Australia. He bought a big house on the back of the 'donations'. Simply a puppet for a variety of rather nasty - primarily foreign - backers.

I agree it's unlikely to have been a large group. Probably a similar number to the Bulgarians who made Hitler salutes.

Agreed, a noisy vocal minority.

Tommy Black. Decent winger. I used to love him as a kid. Wonder what he’s up to nowadays?

Tommy Robinson is the hero of the far right a Convicted hooligan and previous leader of openly racist group.
Why would you chant his name at a football match? What is the point of doing so unless you want to provoke a response?
No it’s not illegal - but why would anyone with half a brain do it?

Hi Deano, I know the original poster and he has told me what happened.

The group involved were initially chanting anti Muslim songs. When Derby Eagle asked them to stop they then started the TR stuff. So agreed that chanting Robinson’s name is maybe provocative but not illegal in itself. However I would think that the anti Muslim singing would be considered as racist and therefore warrant some sort of action.

Anyway, I have nothing more to add to the debate and hope this is an isolated incident .

Well that certainly puts a different slant on things! Of course absolutely no place for that anywhere let alone at football!!

Wish the OP had mentioned that at the start!!

It’s still debatable whether Islamaphobia is racist or not. It’s prejudiced though.

If it is then there are an awful lot of Hindu and Sikh racists out there.

Have you read anything about the sub continent’s history you wouldn’t have said that...it’s rife.

There’s a big gap in perception around this. There are many who equate prejudice against a religion with racism. Certainly much of the academic studies on the subject would. Mainly because of the clear alignment of religion and ethnicity in many realms - but I am no expert.

Tommy Robinson apparently left Britain First (or one similar) because he wouldn’t have a word said against his black mates.

Does that mean he’s not a racist? It does if you deploy reductive reasoning.

To my mind he is a racist but his racism is directed at a certain type of brown person. I hope Palace fans leave his politics elsewhere.

One of the reasons I support Palace is because of its inclusivity in the 80s. Plenty of my black friends had bad experiences even with teams like Liverpool etc.
