what's sad is that it's not even that surprising. We're missing a few stubborn belligerent batsmen who can weather the early storm to see us through the early sessions and into the run scoring.

EVERY time I listen we lose wickets or the Aussies make a stand...EVERY time i turn it off a cluster of Aussie wickets go down or we put on a partnership...so i'm switching off for a couple of hours!

England will never win a test match against this Aussie attack, the batting line up is so poor, the worst I can ever remember. Too imbalanced. I would move Roy down to 5, Denly or AN Other to open with Burns, Bairstow at 4 and Buttler to keep.

That's any hope of regaining the Ashes gone in the space of 4 hours. In truth, this sort of collapse was always going to happen with such a poor batting line up. Root for me is England's best batsman, but not in the same class as Smith, Kohli, or Williamson for that matter. Under pressure I've never seen him do it - case in point the word cup final
