I am so depressed. We have just signed a player who is 33 years old, hasn't played for 12 months, 5 days before the season starts and, reportedly, we are paying him £75k a week. He won't be fit for weeks and will probably spend the season sat on the bench. Add to that, all we have is the signing of Ayew and a third goalkeeper. I will be there on Saturday with a heavy heart.

I am so depressed. £75k a week for a player who hasn't played for a year, is 33 years old and will take weeks to get fit. Is this the best we can do? HELP!

This should be on the front page by now. It's a very good signing as our 2 main cbs are a bit injury prone.

A good signing possibly but at £75 grand a week I’m not so sure.

This would be a decent signing if 1) the rumoured wages weren't so high and 2) we'd already filled the positions where we desperately need players such as RB, Striker and attacking midfielder.

Should be a cherry on the cake signing, feels more like a paper over the cracks one.

Still though, he's an experienced professional and was exceptional in his peak. Let's hope he brings that to the group.

This is one of those 'inspired' or 'disastrous' signings.

I'm quite excited to have him on the payroll. With age comes experience and he could be 'our John Terry' for a couple of years.

However, football has gone mad. £3.9M per year, for two years? Nice top-up to the pension. The wages are farcical but I guess that's the market we are in. We wanted to play in the Prem and this is the price.

Possibly in the minority camp here however I’m delighted by this.
60 plus England caps must say something.

Would rather pay an experienced England international 7 million over two years work but who arrives on a free than shell out 9 million on another Soloth type purchase.
