Injured long term and even when recovered will need to prove this hasn't affected him. Not an option at all. Go for Nathan Ferguson who is out of contract at WBA in the summer.

Just saw a link on Twitter that he is training with us ahead of securing a deal ? I can only assume Ferguson is out for longer than we think. Providing he is fit and a one or two year deal, would make sense ?

I love Clyne. It’s such a shame he’s had so many injury problems. Perhaps with us he will be given time the right amount of time to get fit and stay fit. I do genuinely believe Nat could come in and help the squad this season. We currently have a left back, a right back and a player who can play both sides in Ferguson but having Clyne means we can cover both positions with quality. The only thing that surprises me about this deal is the emergence of Mitchell who, given the number of games he’s now played, should really be considered as additional cover for left back. I wonder whether Nat has simply been given the opportunity to train because he’s an ex player and that the link to him signing is guess work.

If there is concern about Ferguson, no. If there isn't, yes (on the right financial terms). A fit Clyne is a better player than Ward, and will really push Ferguson. Bottom line is that cover in that position helps us. We don't want a kid. We have one in Ferguson.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Palace have said he is training with us, it is the media saying he is trying to earn a deal. It is not uncommon for players to return to their old clubs just to train and get fit. Unless Ferguson is unlikely to be ready in the near future then anything but a short-term deal until say Christmas seems pointless. My favourite player when he left us, but that was a long time ago.

Is clyne any better than ward tho? Since AWB has left, Ward in my opinion hasn’t done anything wrong. Loyal to the club and is a perfect replacement for Ferguson. For a club with a high wage structure, surely that money is better spent elsewhere.

Just seen an article on the palace website that says he is with us for a 2 week period to regain fitness since being released from contract with Liverpool - I would guess for it to become anything more than that would depend upon how things go over the next couple weeks / if anyone involved saw any potential in it being good for the club / player.

In addition to his injuries, Clyne had a number of falling outs and controversies that hasn't helped. Hopefully he's moved on from that. His head was turned in Liverpool, he isn't the player he was for us previously. Perhaps he's matured and reflected on things? We could do with full back competition/cover.
