Fans of a certain age have seen enough of that and are enjoying the current relative success. I'm done with struggling. Bring on the glory.

Not necessarily.
Stop being a baby and attacking his opinion because its not in line with your own.
Maybe he is just realistic whereas you think real football is played out on an XBOX?

of course he might be right, and the fan in question might be perfectly happy seeing us play in the lower leagues on a freezing cold Tuesday night. That's okay.

glory or otherwise, I do love to look at Selhurst when it's packed.

Are we any different as it often feels like Steve Parish uses Palace as a PR vehicle

Massively different. Mansour and Abramovich have, for different reasons, reputations that deserve scrutiny. By associating themselves with football clubs, which they have made artificially successful thanks to their wealth, both have made a significant difference to how they are likely to be perceived. By the public and by authorities. Parish likes to have a media presence and chat s***. But he's a relative pauper and his PR work doesn't move the needle for him. he just likes it.

In terms of positivity I'd like to think I was balanced but there's being positive and then there's just being down right unrealistic.

Do you think Chelsea fans thought they would win the Champions League before Abramovich turned up?
Do you think City fans thought that they would be the best team in England when they were in Division 2?

I'm sorry to be blunt, but the sort of unambitious narrow minded attitude held by some fans probably goes some way to explaining why we have never amounted anything in our 113 years history.

Trouble is, whenever we have shown ‘ambition’ in the past that has equated to spunking a ton of cash on substandard players then going into administration.

Stability and investing in infrastructure is the way forward.

The bottom line is that we need to attract new richer owners while we are in the PL. New facilities help but if we go down we are far less attractive.

For goodness sake get rational. I can hardly believe that you genuinely think that part of the reason for our relatively unsuccessful history is the attitude of some of our fans.

I imagine that, like me and most real Palace fans, you enjoy being in the top division but will continue supporting the club if or when we suffer a decline. Perhaps I'm wrong (it's happened before).

I agree you should have ambition, I don't personally view ambition as hoping to be bought out and bankrolled or doing ourselves up nice to get picked up by big money. Ambition to me is working to improve off our own back, bit by bit, reinvesting and making improvements across the board. Earning the right to be there.

Where we are today we are touching top global levels of team soccer.
We have got a fantastic young squad that badly needs securing and adding a couple or three faces to.
Our home although enjoying a fantastic atmosphere is not fit for purpose. Look at the new Tottenham ground to see where the future lies.
The only way CP will sell is to a seriously ambitious investor who wants to create something very special. A stones throw away is a delapidated gold mine with the same name as our club.
With deep pockets, there are more than a few investors who would be excited by something this huge.
An unbelievable new Crystal Palace. An unbelievable modern day stadium, incorporating a top premier club, hotel, shopping centre, great train links to Gatwick and central london. Masses of parking
The opportunity is off the scale. For the right investors with a couple of billion at their disposal we will be on for a dreamy future
.

sorry, but Croydon has all this already - we are not in the centre of anything. A hotel would be a disaster - have you seen the Crystal Palace hotel in Crystal Palace - run down and full of council temporary housing families. Used to be a great hotel 30 or so years ago.
