London had dockyards too, but is nowhere near the sea. London is the largest coastal city in the UK.

Sorry Willo this wasn't aimed at you, just a dig at the OP's summary of Horsham Not a problem dear Spiderman but thank you for your apology.I had been the subject of much opprobrium on HOL so I had got quite used to the persistant ordure! In terms of Horsham, I only really know the town centre during the day and my dear wife and I were there only this week.On occasions we have stayed overnight and have enjoyed a tipple or two in the town centre establishments! We make trips to Horsham on a fairly regular basis. Edited by Willo (11 Oct 2019 9.04am)

Did a visit to Canterbury today, just the tourist bit around the cathedral all very nice no idea about the rest of it. We went through the Medway towns on the way, blimey if the people I saw at the stations at Gillingham and Chatham are a reflection of the population then I don't blame the train driver for putting his foot down or as Henry VIII would have said "don't spare the horses". I can vouch for the train driver, having worked in Chatham for a few years. Think yourself lucky the trains don't go through Brompton, between Chatham and Gillingham!
