Just bewildered that you guys have nothing better to talk about during the match! You could be talking about Brexit, world hunger or endangered species, I would still question your sanity!!

I'm sorry, but all I'm seeing is a slur designed to undermine an opinion.

Quite honestly, most posters who are regulars in the political section have talked Brexit, world politics and race issues until we are sick of them.
But that is kind of what the section is for.

This thread is about a current story and is, therefore, being discussed currently. Is that too hard to grasp?

One can multi-task during a game even at the game. It's not a crime. I'm sure even Steve Parish tweets etc.
If I'm watching on TV or laptop I will often do other stuff at the same time.

You are being ridiculous old chap.

Funny you mention Egypt, which happens to be in Africa.

Actually to be more accurate Egypt is part of both the African and Asian continents, covering both the northeastern part of Africa and the southwest corner of the Asian continent. This is because the dividing line between Africa and Asia is the Sinai peninsula, which runs through Egypt.

Gibraltar happens to be at the tip of Spain....it doesn't mean that the Gibraltarns consider themselves to be the same as the Spanish.

Many Egyptians thinks of themselves as middle eastern Arabs rather than Africans and the Africans who live there have long complained about racial tensions.

Imagine my shock.

May I ask, why you feel we need white museums? Which part of "white history" isn't represented? No on is saying in any part that a museum of Black History can only be visited by black people, by the way.

Any museum that is based on skin colour is a flawed idea.

We have agreed that any 'Black history' that is worthy of public interest should be displayed in the mainstream museums.

I have asked you which particular 'Black' history you think deserves to be in the British Museum for example?

For me, the problem is that to call something 'Black history' is too narrow and smacks of identity politics.

For example, one could argue that Black people created much of civilisation but some of them happened to turn white while doing it.
One could argue that much of Black history has been lost since there is no physical or written record of it and is therefore not known
One could argue the term 'Black' in terms of Western history, is more a political label than a biological one since many Black Americans and British have lots of European genes and vice versa.

To label history based on skin colour suggests that it occurred in isolation, which it clearly didn't. We all share in it. It's just history.

Egypt, by the way, is in North Africa. I'm not even sure what point you are trying to make.

I'd like my future children to learn about the Windrush generation , for example. Windrush was undeniably a pivotal moment in British culture and diversity, and sadly, first hand accounts of this will be increasingly hard to come by for th next generation.

But the museum itself could have exhibits from the black pharoahs but ignore the white ones. Kind of ghettoisation of a museum now. How is that promoting diversity - surely cultural racism by the museum, rather thàn equality?

I have seen a Windrush exhibition in the last 3-5 years. I am trying to remember which one and for some reason I keep thinking of the Imperial War museum* but that doesn't make sense. Anyway I think it was a temporary exhibit but a permanent one could be housed in the Museum of London for example.

* Actually the Maritime Museum at Greenwich rings a bell and makes a lot more sense.

Where's the diversity in a 'black culture museum'?

If it was the only museum then that would indeed be a problem.

While the left continue to focus on skin colour all they are doing is perpetuating racism.

Not sure where my post mentions this but the whole point of the idea is to provide more coverage of this sub-sector of history.

Where's the diversity in the Science Museum? The Mary Rose museum? The Roman Baths?
