My manager at work , his mrs works for the prem league. Said every transfer window all the teams push the FA when they’ve bought someone as they are an employee of the club and they aren’t allowed to play until all the papers have gone through . Apparently this is the first time that any team has done the opposite. Cardiff.

Personally i think Colin has played a blinder by using Sala's tragic death to galvanise Cardiff. Everyone seems to have overlooked the fact that he was at Nantes for 4 years so i would imagine they are feeling the loss a lot more than a club where he had a been for days . How many at Cardiff had actually even met the bloke? Imo Nante are well within their rights to ask for the first installment.

Update from the BBC make of it what you will but it sounds like Cardiff are looking for loopholes. "Confirming the Nantes action, Dalman said: "Of course, if we are contractually obliged to pay them then of course we will. We are an honourable club. "But if we are not - and there are some anomalies in that - then surely you would expect me as the chairman and guardian of this club's interests to look into that and hold our position. That is what we are doing." Edited by Badger11 (12 Feb 2019 6.31pm)

Sad thing is Nantes will probably only see a bit of the transfer fee once they've paid the sell on clause and all the agents involved have been paid what they demand. I believe its only a percentage of the fee rather than the whole hog they are demanding. Probably under pressure themselves form Bordeaux and said agents... We all know how football can be a shallow and vindictive business. If anything the best gesture from both would be to donate some of the fee or something to the families.

Am I being hard-hearted, but is everybody making a meal out of this ? A shame I agree, but is all the grief necessary

I agree with you I wish his family well but I don't mourn people I don't know or people who have not touched my life. These days it appears there is a rush to social media to be the first to show your grief. Well its a free country (for now) but I guess I come from a generation that did not do that.
