I'm unusually positive after the game today. We carried the play for most of the match, which you'd expect against Cardiff at home, but still we did it. Wickham's return was very good. He was immediately a problem in the middle for Cardiff, and it totally changed our shape for the better. Guaita was very good. Looks like we have two good keepers now. As usual, our finishing is amateur level, from almost everyone. It seems like each of our players has to waste their first excellent scoring chance by blasting it 30 feet over the goal. Every match. Then after squandering one, they remember to keep it down afterwards. To be fair, Cardiff was the same. They blew a few quality chances too. The one point isn't great, but more importantly we deprived Cardiff of 3 points. And we have a bit more breathing room at the moment.

Annoying not to win but we played well enough and created enough to not fuss over it. Great to see Wickham come on and have an impact and Wilf benefit from going out wide finally. If we get a goal in that we'd have got a couple more imo but our luck wasn't with us, Guaita save aside. Hitting the woodwork 3 times says it all if we created f all like the Newcastle game I'd be fuming but let's look at the facts. Cardiff played 5atb with little space between the lines and some very good defending when it mattered, especially when Wilf was through for what would have been a one on one. Most teams will huff and puff against a side like that. Onto the Chelsea t***s

Three clean sheets in our last three home games, not ideal today but thought Cardiff defended well today. We have lost tight games like this one before, hopefully we can beat Chelsea as will be more like an away game.

I was at the game today, had that chance in the first minute gone in and not hit the bar we would've of won easily. Great seeing Wickham back,he nearly scored. I think we can beat Chelsea at our Hopefully Wickham will stay fit for Sunday.

Our corners are absolutely pathetic. Not a single one gave the defence anything to think about. True. We never seem to be first to the ball from corners.

Dominated the game, just couldn't score, very frustrating indeed, but when one considers the results of the teams below us it wasn't such a bad day after all.

I realise that we are 7 points off the relegation zone, but it’s only fluke results against top 6 sides that is doing that. Last year we recovered from the woeful start by beating to the bottom 14 teams. In the first half of the season we only managed 14 points against bottom 14 teams; losing to EACH of Bournemouth, Wolves, Watford, Brighton, West Ham, Everton and Southampton is just not good enough. We will be very lucky to stay up if we only take 14 points from the bottom 14 teams in the second half of the season.

This kind of points return in the second half of the season is distinctly squeaky arse and definitely not safe. Not to mention that 38 points represents a serious underachievement from this squad. And it's 80% attributable to the sort of wastefulness in front of goal that we saw today. We shouldn't need a whole new striker to fix that, although it would increase our potential somewhat. What we do need is for the coaches to address this for all players on the training field.

All those shots against Burnley and we score from a cross and a wonder goal. 1 shot on target vs Leicester from outside the box and 1 goal. Wonder goal vs Huddersfield. 3 shots on target 3 goals including a wonder goal and a pen vs man city. We are not scoring bread and butter type goals, and it’s a bit of a worry. To not turn over cardiff with all those chances was like the Burnley game except we didn’t get the luck of a goal from a cross and a wonder goal from Andros. Something is rotten in Denmark, I don’t know what we need to do on the training field but we have to find a way to start scoring bread and butter goals.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |
