no, that's why I asked the question. When I lived in the UK I saw it as a cultureless place which is one of the reasons I decided to leave. I saw many things trying to be copied from other cultures but nothing of note or unique 'locally'.

More that you just don't like it.

Everywhere has a culture, whether it's rugby league, bingo, warm beer, chips and gravy or al fresco dining.

You don't like England and you remind us regularly.

But he can't help himself when it comes to trolling people on this English website for an English football club.
'Culture' is a lot of old bollocks. It's what people waste their time on when they have nothing more important to do. Who needs culture? Especially the primitive kind.

I left the South in 1984 and moved to Newcastle. When I was first asked if I wanted gravy on my chips I replied "don't be silly, no-one has gravy on chips"

Has that horrible habit reached the South now

Years ago as a child I was by the beach in Newquay, saw someone with gravy on their chips and bought some myself. Never again. Ruined. I used to order curry sauce a lot if it was the brown kind and not the limey green mess. Just salt and vinegar now. Lunch is midday and dinner is at dinner time, not in the middle of the day. Wtf is that about anyway?

You can spin his no identity or culture of our own on its head by saying plenty of European countries reject foreign food and restaurants whereas we've got the pick of everything.

True. We are far more open to foreign ideas that the French for example. We are less precious about retaining Britishness in terms of our tastes. Despite that, British influence is everywhere. The world is better and a more cultured and civilised place because of Britain and no bitter decriers can change that.

Plenty of international cuisine in other European cities and they certainly don't 'reject' anything. You need to travel more and skip the tourist trails. Of course as I mentioned in my last comment, lots of copying in the UK, nothing very original. The lack of good local cuisine is a good example as it means there isn't much option to importing someone else's.

Out of interest - where exactly in Europe do you live EuroPalace?

You get a big range of cuisine in every British town, not just cities. You don't get the same across Europe. Or maybe you're a better judge than the the food experts and critics here, many of them foreign.

So you don't think that the cuisine of any country was originally determined by the availability of food stuffs and the ability to preserve it?
Now we have refrigeration and preservatives, food can go anywhere.
I find a lot of so called fancy food like French and Italian absolute cack and if it wasn't for the British, much of the world still be eating each other.
