Perhaps Parish thinks Roy has already saved his hide and doesn't need to do anything more this season?

So we ended up with a fat Swedish kid on loan for a couple of months, a pole valued at £2m which is what championship teams would play for a squad member and a forward from the mighty danish league.

I want Freedmans job it really is a piss take.

It’s no wonder we have such a huge turnover of managers is it. Even Sam rumbled it.

So how is that SP or DF fault is beyond me. There are more things at play than 'ermmmmm I really like your player... Can I buy him'... 'yes of course you can, here he is'. That is the kind of talk people seem to expect to go on.

The problem with always leaving things until the final day is that it relies on the chain of player movements being completed before anyone moves. Having said that, the only way to complete deals early is to pay over the odds and risk financial ruin.
There is clearly no easy solution. All these people who are calling for new owners overlook the minor detail of finding someobody willing to throw their money at Palace. Such people are unlikely to have any affilation for the club and the risk of ruining the club isn't a big deal to them. In terms of affiliation for their club, I think we have the best owners in the Premier League. The big issue here is that the transfer window forces the brinkmanship mentality where agents and clubs know they can hold the buyer to ransom. The sooner transfer windows are abolished, the better.

I think the two we purchased are worth it they most very little so if they do not work out nothing really has been lost.

the problem is that is it no other players when our manager clearly stated he needed 6 and we all know from summer we needed a lot of players yet we keep messing about trying to save few mil here or their.

if owners of are club can't front funds required for this league then get out and sell the club SP always states he loves this club and wants best for it well how is with holding funds whats best.

people was saying in summer we needed 8+ players and we got what 2-3 excluding loans and look how small and poor the squad was.

The transfer for this Lille guy was a mess Lille needed the money now they are in trouble yet we are trying to do deals with delayed payments we could of just offered how much they wanted 17m weeks ago and had him.

I want to hear SP take on this whole thing I wonder if he will do another scripted holmsdale radio show

Other thing that annoys me is i heard they have spend over 30m regarding all this planning and so on for new stand so far

looks like Cabaye will have new deal to which really he doesn't deserve one the money he is on which is high we could get much better player in he is past it now even when AP had him come here you could see his legs was going he was looked after by AP

One positive we have spend very little so come summer we should have plenty of funds no excuses this time that we spent big in Jan

By contrast our supporters will look at some of our signings and view them as unknown Squad players. They will see no goalkeeper addition (Not for the want of trying), a young striker with no experience in any top league etc etc and will question whether in the event of any further injuries the new additions will actually prove to be of any use.Of course the supporters have not seen the players perform but based on what is known about them they have formed a judgement - I suspect that overall they are underwhelmed !

You are talking about "our supporters" and what they might be thinking as if you are not one of them.

Why not "we are underwhelmed" instead of "they are underwhelmed"

No one within the club management leaves anything to the 'last day'. In the real world, there are 2 parties to any deal, sometimes more. Do you really think that Steve Parish and his team simply wait until the last day before they make any bids for new players? If so then you don't know much about negotiation methods or dealing in the real market for any type of high value goods.

Not the best window by any means but we are where we are and there is no point whingeing about it.
I am not that fussed about the GK situation to be honest - it needs sorting in the summer but right now it might be better the devil you know for the rest of the team - we need consistency for the moment.
Interesting though that we seemed to back off one GK deal assuming the other one would happen and then the other club stopped the deal so we ended up with nothing?
If that is how it worked then it does show us being naive really - find the one you want and do the deal - don't wait assuming you will get a better deal elsewhere!

GK issue could be worse in summer both our current keeps deals are up so we either have to renew current ones now or we could end up not having any which will make the market even harder to get one for good price.

we have from what i know 9 players who contracts end this year that are in 25 squad.

There were only 44 deals done in January - including pre-arranged ones - for players coming in to Premier League Clubs.
Three of those were ours.
A few of them were the big bucks ones where teams like us are not even at the table - they don't count in our world.
Many of them are for players we have never heard of - yes - we have two of them I know.
Many were for players this forum would not have wanted - Sturridge is an example.
A few also for lower league players going to big clubs for the future.
So - it is not all bad and not every other team has done well whilst we have done nothing.
January is a feeding frenzy and whilst I think we still have a lot to learn we are okay.
Our injuries have meant that we had a sudden need for more players and they don't just appear when you click your fingers.
We might have been working a on a few deals for a while only to find we have a depleted squad at the last minute and I think we have done okay considering.
I really don't think that SP or DF just muck about not doing anything and I don't think they deserve the level of vitriol some people on here are throwing at them!

People are entitled to moan but honestly I don't think most of you have things in proportion.

The January window is not a window for good deals.....it isn't a window where you should be spending massive money....clubs that do this ultimately might hit lucky occasionally but in the long run it's going to bite them.....unless you overspend clubs aren't going to release good players mid season.

We are not in a desperate position but we did need another striker to go along with the midfielder and defender we already added.

Remember Parish at the close of the last window when we missed out on Niasse saying that meant the good news was there would be lot more to spend in January...
