Don't sweat it - even if true will come down to number 1 - who meets the asking price, number 2 - who can agree terms with player and agents and then number 3 where the player sees his future. If he chooses the spammers over us then he ain't worth having - after all choose David Moyes over Roy Hodgson why would any sane person do that..!! Think this a nothing story and all will come good. Choose moyes over Roy you deserve what you get. This. At the start of the window Lille were quoted as saying our first offer wasn’t enough & we needed to up it to the €18m they valued him at. We did & they subsequently decided he’s actually worth €20m - make of that what you will. Hardly us faffing & I reckon Dougie would probably go for it if there wasn’t a chance they’d move the goalposts yet again. It’s interesting that suddenly there’s interest from WHU albeit nothing official or substantiated has turned up.

It’s also my understanding (from a scout) that right from the get-go teams now ask for the fitness data held on the player as a start point & tailor aspects of the medical from that.

Sky now reporting West Ham are in for him. Only a matter of time before someone else came in. Would serve Palace right if they ended up losing him.

From what everyone has seen /posted there is a figure that they seem to think would guarantee he becomes a Palace player. We’ve already offered what they originally wanted & all they’ve done is up the price. There’s no reason not to assume they’ll do the same until time becomes an issue. IF we decide not to pay what they’re asking that’s our choice - we haven’t ‘lost’ anything, we’ve just decided the deal isn’t for us. It could well be that he & his agent are hoping for better or a bigger/more attractive club to come in. As has been said already, do we really need a defensive player right now? I’d rather they blow the budget on a keeper & a striker (or two).

Let’s come back and debate this again in 24 hours when we’ve signed nobody and see how we feel then.

Think Hodgson will/have to stick with Benteke rest of season, so let's hope a strong defence and midfield keep it tight and Zaha comes up with the goodies now and then...

Assuming that money did not come out of the £35 million paid to Arsenal, the actual transfer fee seems to be only a small part of it. So all these people bandying around long lists of players with apparently informed prices, and other people saying we should do this deal or that deal would seem to only have half the story.
