To be fair, Benteke was incredibly unlucky. Who'd have imagined that the goalkeeper would be such a fit young man in the peak of condition? I must admit, like Beneteke, I'd assumed the keeper would be made out of straw at least or, at worst, being kept alive on by a kidney machine and unable to cover the six inches that their keeper moved in order to deprive us of two points. Still, we must pick up the pieces of our lives and try to start again.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Benteke - Need to get over it...' by Midlands Eagle Happily. He shouldn't have taken the penalty but otherwise had an excellent game. There's no guarantee Luka would have stuck it away anyway albeit he'd have had abetter effort. Why did Luka roll over so easily and let Benteke take it? Both Luka and Dann etc need to grow a pair and actually show some leadership in future. Anyway, we didn't lose the game, we played very well second half and hopefully the whole team, including Benteke, will be up for it tomorrow night. Lets stick together, move on and get behind the boys

A win tomorrow and that Benteke penalty incident will be forgotten. Totally agree. I think and/or hope we'll get a performance from Christian tomorrow. Benteke winner

Either im just a fickle fan or the time is a great healer theory is correct. Saturday I wanted to hunt him down and bury him somewhere in Crystal Palace Park but now I am hoping Christian has a great game tomorrow night.

Still got the hump. Same. Unless we get decent points in the next 3 of Watford at home, Leicester away and Swansea away and, if not, Arsenal at home and Man City at home, then I still will be. It's one player or another or 2 most games who are messing up our chances and we haven't got the room for this kind of error (stupidity often) because of what's happened before. I probably won't celebrate when or if Benteke scores in the very near future but I guess if everyone did that he'd lose determination from losing the adulation he thinks we've had for him. God, we even had to sign his brother who was out of his depth.

I had hoped for a public apology from him. Something like: "I was so desperate to get a goal I let that get in the way of making the right decision for the team/club/fans" A bit of humility goes a long way. If he's not dropped then he best play a blinder tomorrow.

I also really hope for your sake that you start finding enjoyment at Palace again, because you seem almost clinically depressed by everything that happens at club at the moment. Maybe Roy should loan you out to Brighton in January?

I'm sorry, I have to disagree, that was a feeble penalty from a player who was greedy and only interested in his own egotistical well being he did not care about the team and how important the three points were to us, he want goals on the CV so that he can go to the World Cup next summer. He has missed three from five penalty kicks since he has been with us and that is not the cv of striker, the easiest for all for a good strikers is penalty kicks, he can't even do that job and we are better off without him as he can't score anyway and therefore a waste of space!
