I was surprised to see today that not a single Palace player has ever represented England at the World Cup..!! So means that RLC is our closest ever..! COYP

I'm delighted for him being selected for the World Cup squad. He clearly is, as we all know a real talent with a big future. Two things worry me about his selection though.... 1) As an England fan it shows how far behind we have fallen... I mean that with the greatest respect to RLC... But he is not quite good enough, in my opinion for the World stage yet. 2) As a Palace fan IF he plays in the World Cup and has a blinder then we can forget any chance of signing him. Tough one...
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

Honestly, i am 99,9% sure that Ruben will be with us next season(Chelsea), especially if our new manager is Leonardo Jardim, who is a manager that is not afraid to play youth players.

I am really pleased for RLC he has totally deserved his call up. I have been a critic of his in past, but since coming back from injury he has been fantastic and has really shown how good he can be. We need to move on as a club without him as there is no way Chelsea will sell or loan him back to us. I can only see 2 things stopping him from becoming an England regular: 1 _ Chelsea stick him on the bench and use him as an impact player 2- His injury jinx strikes again Palace should be proud with how we have helped him. He has benefited and so have we. Maybe Chelsea and other big teams have another few quality players they can send our way. I would be happy with that as we can't compete with the big 5 or 6 and just have to accept this. Good luck Ruben, I will be watching England with added interest and hoping you get a chance a play a blinder. A final thought, I bet Wilf wishes he had given it just a little longer as he is a better player and would walk into the England set up now...

This England squad is very inexperienced at this level and it looks to me that Southgate is going to use RLC as the main midfield playmaker - there is nobody else who can play that role ! So there is going to be a lot of responsibility on Rubens young shoulders - I just hope it’s not too much. He has had a great end of season with us but playing wide whereas I think Southgate will look to him to play central - a far different job. He played really well in that position in one and a bit friendlies last year but I’m worried that it will be asking too much of him in a World Cup. If he cracks it his value will soar out of our reach but if he and the team fail then maybe we will have the chance to get him back so that he can develop further under Roy.

Ok. So my spies have told me that he needs a back operation to relieve a particular issue either caused by his unorthodox running style or causing it. I'm not sure which. This was going to go ahead immediately but he was waiting on the WC team selection. Now that he has been selected obviously this operation will be held back. It is therefore unlikely that he will be fit for the beginning of next season. It is unclear if all this will have any bearing on who he will eventually be playing for next season.

Well, if any of that is true - and if I understand the transfer market next season - and I have doubts on both counts; then the window shuts in August 9 and doesn’t reopen again in the winter. So anyone taking RLC would be stuck for the season with a potentially unfit player. So he will have to stay at Chelsea.
