Some of the whataboutery on this thread is top notch. I genuinely mean it.... We're discussing the criminal activity at NHC... And so far people have mentioned... Orange order March Cricket Football fans abroad. The question is...30 injured cops...nearly 1000 arrests... At what point do we consider banning it for a year or two? Is there a number...is it 40 injured cops, maybe 50? Is it 2000 arrests? Or do we pretend there isn't a problem for sake of harmony? As i said earlier, if you set out to ban one then why not the others? Why would they get a pass? It would be prejudicial to stop one of the events that have very similar problems of crime/police injuries whilst leaving the others alone, would it not?

Jeffrey is rather annoyed about you calling him 'Mr Polyfilla'. Put him right off his missionary.

You asked why the head of the London Police Federation hasn't asked for events outside London to be banned. I offered a counter argument that events outside London, are beyond his remit. 31 police officers injured is unacceptable. 1000 arrests is unacceptable. Should we ban it for a year or two? I'd be inclined to say yes. I've long thought the black community gets held to a lower standard than others. When I got in to university, my (black) aunt said "despite society telling us black people cant go uni, you did it... and I'm proud of you". My mum (white) said... the only people who have told him not to go university have been black people... there is nothing holding black people back, apart from black people. We have to challenge accepted criminal behaviour... we have to encourage education and ask difficult questions so it shines a light on current problems.

There were five arrests at Glasgow Pride event in August.
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

Statistically speaking there were more arrests at Reading festival than at NHC. According to the Metro 313 people were arrested at NHC out of approx. 1m attendees. At Reading Festival, 43 people were arrested out of approx. 90% attendees. Scaling up, that's 430 vs 313. Although both had lower arrests.

Around 315 or so arrests - the Police also arrested 650 or so people who were 'planning to cause trouble' - Arguably a case of excellent policing strategy. The bit in bold - This should be the cornerstone of any society, promotion and encouragement of education, not just at school, but throughout our lives. Education should be its own reward.

It would be interesting to have a bit more information on those 650 arrested. How many have been charged and for what offenses. I hope that it is excellent police strategy but only time will tell.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Britain was such a dull and dreary place before we had reggae, spicy food, Patois, Ganja and lots of other culturally enriching stuff that Jamie will tell me is easily explainable, statistically misleading and non specific.
