Doesn't annoy me in the slightest. But I know a fundamental Catholic when i see one and just don't believe hardcore religious people should be in the top job. Blair was bad enough.

True.

Still, he doesn't strike me as very religious......Then again I don't know much about Mogg other than he's very posh and very smart.

I just wanted to get my traditional Kermy 'dig' in.

How delightful Jacob has voted in Parliament so far on some issues:

Consistently voted against allowing terminally ill people to be given assistance to end their life

Consistently voted against equal gay rights

Consistently voted against smoking bans

Consistently voted against allowing marriage between two people of same sex

Generally voted against laws to promote equality and human rights

Consistently voted against investigations into the Iraq war

Almost always voted against a right to remain for EU nationals already in living in the UK

Consistently voted for reducing housing benefit for social tenants deemed to have excess bedrooms (which Labour describe as the "bedroom tax"

Consistently voted against spending public money to create guaranteed jobs for young people who have spent a long time unemployed

Consistently voted against increasing the tax rate applied to income over £150,000

Almost always voted against a banker’s bonus tax

Consistently voted for reducing capital gains tax
Voted a mixture of for and against measures to reduce tax avoidance

So not a massive surprise he has support from certain types on here.

Michael, copying matters from the internet without backing them up, doesn't tell us the full story, does it?

Why didn't you post the link? Easy to have a backhanded dig when not providing all the 'facts', ain't it?

Interesting that you use a website run by left leaning types, which has been described as providing a quantitative but not qualitive representation of members voting habits.

He does annoy you because he has religious convictions.

Despite your protestations that everyone should be free to practise their beliefs, you do have an exception with Christians. Funny that, given that one of best mates is an evangelical.

At least you haven't tried to divert and deny his voting habits. It's all there to see. I can see why you admire him.

So what you are saying is that everyone should vote in the same manner as you wish to.

In addition to this, you proposed the arbitrary, uninforceable and frankly silly policy of banning people who, hold religious beliefs from standing for office.

You also want politicians to ignore the democratic will of the nation and block Brexit.

I have said his before and say it again. You are a fascist. You don't realise but you are and this is a tendency of your sort in recent times.

The Moggster is a free thinker and principled. Just what this country needs and none of the passive aggressive 'slights' you chuck at me will change my mid, as it is quite clear your moral compass is very wonky.

Why don't you ask your 'evangelical mate' whether he agrees with your musings?

As he is imaginary, I guess at least one person will agree with you on something.

I was chatting with him just today funnily enough. He's a nice chap, like Jacob, but we avoid religious talk as he then becomes all extreme, like Jacob going by his voting habits.

Gentle religious people are fine and can be whatever in my book but would rather keep the hardcore element from being able to run the show. They are not quite right in the head when it gets all to do with God
