The idea is we get rid of Mutch etc and then upgrade on players like Jimmy Mc who are then the squad players. Obviously a lot harder in reality but that should ultimately be the aim Agreed which we started in January.

We'll also have Joniesta as an option, and hopefully given a chance.

Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

One thing about Sakho that may be a concern is how de Boer gets on with him. FdB seems a pretty serious character and I think at Inter he was a bit of a disciplinarian. Allardyce wasn't really like that with us, he seemed a lot more relaxed and gave a lot of responsibility to the players themselves. If de Boer wants to control everything then he might get wound up by a big character like Sakho just as Klopp seems to have. Obviously they could get on like a house on fire but it's just a thought that they might not. Big Sam relaxed?! That wasn't my impression at all. I think I'd have preferred to be on the receiving end of Fergie's hairdrier rather than Sam's! Yes, man management is vital and so is giving players responsibility. From the articles I've read about FdB's philosophy, he gives the team a clear plan and a shape but encourages players to use their initiative Well, that was what the articles suggested to me. Many others have interpreted them as saying he's a control freak. That wasn't my interpretation. The way I read it is that he's experienced total football (Cruyff) and total control (van Gaal) and he blends the 2 philosophies together. Organisation with license for expression. Sounds good to me.

I think it time we started reducing the age of the squad , which currently is 28.1 years. The only transfer that I would sign above the 24 year old bracket is Sakho. Especially in midfield puncheon and cabaye both 31 and mcarthur 29. I feel we may need a big chunk of investment this season but to buy players with potential sell on. The likes of Calum Chambers and coquelin also have that prem experience that a lot of managers look for.
