[Why not, we have some great players ready to be let loose!quote=Ray in Houston;3194551]

As you can tell from my signature, I'm not a fan of possession for possession's sake. It works for Barcelona because they have three legitimate game-breakers playing up top; but when Spain did it, they won the World Cup by scoring less than a goal a game and I slept through almost all of it. van Gaal's Utd were terribly dull and even Arsenal are mostly dull, only occasionally coming to life.

Can Zaha, Benteke and Townsend be a South London version of Messi, Neymar and Suarez? Possibly...

We seemed to do it pretty well when pardew was trying it, sadly the players werent fit enough and the defence was so s**t we still lost. But there was enough shown to suggest the players are capable of possession football if they are trained properly and fit enough.

Apparently not even England can do this; not when they're up against the mighty Iceland, anyway.

I think he will adapt to our players and play to the skills of the player, well that is what I think anyway!

We have changed a lot since the possession game was tried at Palace - I remember jedinak being the main Protagonist of failure at one point.. and as pointed out, Pardew tried it with a lack of a defense and any kind of fitness regime. (and Cabaye playing 'out Of position')
We now have a significantly more capable player in Mili and a significantly better drilled defense and fitness levels. If FdB keeps this up there is no reason to believe that these players cannot play his way.

Changing style of play like this has it's risks. We should expect some dross - and possession for possessions sake. We won't play well at times until we can properly learn his system. (don't forget, our squad isn't the youngest, either. It's difficult to teach an old footballer new tricks!)
The trick will be whether FdB can pick up enough points to keep his job safe, so keep his project going.

Actually it can be either, spelt with a c or an s both have the same meaning. Here in the UK we mainly use defence but that's not say defense is wrong. Use whichever floats yer boat.

Happy we finally got a new manager. Think (and hope) FDB will do well, but a little sceptical to his Ajax background. Great with players like Cruyff etc, but the Palace DNA is defending with our lives and counter attacking. Far away from the tikki takka possession football a lot of teams swear to these days. If FDB can adapt to the Palace way we're in for a great season.

Defense is American.
Defence is English.

However, in England there is licence and license all depends on the reference and grammatical sense as to which is correct.
In America there is just license.

It's a pain.
