Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has made enquiries about taking West Ham United's current second choice goal keeper, Adrian Saint Miguel, on loan until the end of the season. Allardyce, who bought Adrian to West Ham while he was manager, is keen to shore up his leaky defence and sees the Spain reserve goalkeeper as a good start in his campaign to restore strength at the back. It is thought the deal being pursued could be with an arrangement to make the move permanent at the end of the season,

How about Joe Hart? Apparently available, and worked under Sam Allardyce when he was manager of the England squad.

I think our defensive woes began when Jules got injured and Super Al stubbornly refused to reinstate him when he was fit, when it was plain to see neither McCarthy or Hennessey were as good as him.

WH does make some damn good saves. There were 2/3 last Saturday against Everton. The main criticism of him is his decision making and positioning. Is this something a decent goalkeeping coach could eradicate from his game? If so I think, although I seem to be very much in the minority on this one, that he may still have something to offer. Or, are his bad habits too ingrained in him now?

This is silly. We have far more urgent needs than a keeper. Once the defence situation is sorted there is a desperate requirement for a creative midfielder, confident on the ball, an accurate ground passer who doesn't treat the ball like a hot potato. We have midfielders but not one confident in holding the ball like a Fabrigas. Cabaye was bought to fulfil this function but for all his effort has not done it.
