Do you get a vote in the London mayor election. That must give you some idea.

Never said is wasn't a London Borough. If you was on holiday and met someone who said they was from London, you asked where and they said swanley or barnhurst. They would be a c*nt wouldn't they?

I'm actually glad some the posters in this thread don't live in the London borough of Croydon. I live in Thornton Heath and love Croydon. Its where in from, we're better off without these people that hate.

It would depend... A part of Swanley has been a part of "London" metropolitan area administratively for about 50 years now, like Croydon. If you met someone outside the US who lives 30 miles from the centre of Los Angeles and they told you they came from LA (even if in fact they came from outside the administrative area) you wouldn't think they were a cnut, Same with Sydney for example or many big cities. I'm from Bromley...been part of London for 50 years though many "Londoners" still think of it as in Kent. But while if I'm in London,I think of myself as coming from Bromley and on a larger scale, from "south of the river", if I'm say in the midlands or abroad I would describe myself as from London,no big deal.

I've had this argument as to whether Sutton and Croydon are in London or Surrey. In short, they have both been in Greater London since 1965, when Middlesex got swallowed up along with parts of Surrey, Kent and Essex. Sutton has Sutton postcodes (SM), and Croydon has Croydon postcodes (CR) and a couple SE postcodes (SE25 and SE19). To further solidify the idea that they're considered "London," we're served by TfL (plus the tram and London overground rail service pass through Croydon), our mayor is Sadiq Kahn and they're both called London Borough of ... . Overall, you should really consider them London, but it is highly subjective. For instance, I technically live in Carshalton, but I live closer to Wallington town centre, so where does that mean I live?

There's no such place. There is a Barnehurst in the London Borough of Bexley, within the London Low Emission Zone, served by Transport for London and whose residents get the opportunity to vote for the Mayor of London. Anyone who lives in a neighbouring borough and didn't know that I probably would describe as a ****
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

South east London have SE postcodes. Parts of kent surrey and Essex are in greater London, but you wouldn't say they were south east london. Not even sure why we're arguing about this.

And when was the last time you frequented the Bronx? It has a population of 1.5 Million people pretty Big place you could fit Croydon in it & lose it. There are parts of the Bronx like Throggs Neck, Country Club where you would actually think you were in Godalming Haslemere, Guildford etc. Even the renowned South Bronx is being gentrified with better bars, restaurants & clubs you probably would get in London especially khazi's like Croydon...
