It's interesting that some posters think Palace should have 15 points because we were facing teams 'in bad form.' Yet we were in worse form when we faced Bournemouth and Boro. Their fans were disappointed not to take all the points from us, since most pundits picked us for a relegation battling season. West Brom are in 10th for a supposedly weak team. Spurs beat us late, but they didn't walk over us. Every season is different. No one picked Stoke or West Ham to suck so bad, but they are. No one picked Palace to sit at 7th after 6 games, but we are. We sit above Leicester, Chelsea, Southampton, West Ham, Stoke, Swans, Watford, WBA, all teams that finished above us last year. It's a good place to be. Since Pardew got so much stick end of season, he deserves the credit too. We were fortunate to get him instead of MacKay or Bruce, and we're fortunate to still have him in my book. Losing him to England would set us back as much as Pulis walking out on us did.

If the FA's prime consideration is that the new manager must be English then I suppose the only candidates worthy of consideration are : Pardew,Howe,Bruce,Hoddle and Dyche. As I write I would be disappointed to see Pardew leave but would wish him all the best as it is a great honour to manage England. As we have won 3 on the 'Bounce' perhaps many would feel the same but if we lose the next three then it might be a different story !

I'm sure AP couldn't have dreamed of a vacancy to manage England coming up again so soon. He must have extended his contract with us in the summer so would a shed load of compensation be due to us if he went? If so, that might deter the FA from courting him?
