Guess we'll all find out one day soon, right?
See as someone who does believe in Heaven, I rationalise that if its not true and there really is nothing, well then I wont know will I? Well you might if the competition turns out to be right, I'd imagine that embracing the 'truth of a loving and compassionate christ' won't be much help if you end up in Valhalla. That's my fear to, not that Hell might be real, but that I end up in Valhalla. Being killed in battle every day sounds pretty grim.

Good and merciful god condemns people to eternal torture and punishment in tyrannical strop about not worshiping him and his son. Feel free to worship tyranny and oppression. I'll stick with not endorsing the oppression and tyranny of people, and the possibility of a diety that is the embodiment of the noble aspects of humanity, such as love and compassion, rather than a stroppy psychopath.

I had a heart attack a few years back in which I died and was brought back in the ambulance with the defibrillator. I can tell you that, in the intervening time, there was nothing whatsoever. No white lights, no tunnels, no angels singing, no Pearly Gates. Ever had a general anaesthetic? That's what it was like. So one nutjob telling the world he went to hell and was sent back does not proof - or even reliable evidence - make.
Goodness is what you do. Not who you pray to. |

I'll use me as an example, after all I am the only one I can speak for, and I am often called to speak of my experiences, most recently in front of thousands of people. I believe 100% that I know Jesus having encountered him, firstly in a vision and then a spiritual epiphany that continues to this day. I know that makes me sound like a crackpot to anyone who doesn't believe LOL, but there you are. I know what I know, I just lack the ability to convey it accurately to others. It's that simple.

This raises a similar point to one that jehovah's witnesses raise. How can anyone truly trust or feel comfortable worshipping a god whom they know will send billions upon billions of people to an eternity of suffering? Surly they must understand that their god may turn around and condemn them one day. If fundamentalist muslims are right then fundamentalist christians will be disappointed and vice versa.
Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping. Hubert Reeves |

Reborn - why do your views (and those of other religious believers) deserve or demand respect? Do your political views deserve equally unquestioned respect? If I said that I devoutly and sincerely believed that trees and ponds contained nature gods would you patiently acknowledge my spritual journey or would you dismiss it as baloney?
Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial |
