Thousands of firefighters brought parliament square to a standstill today. Did it make the news? Did it f***. No mention of it on LBC today either (from what I heard). Media manipulation from those above?

This is a booklet my fireman friend was given when he joined the service 20 years ago. The Government have effectively torn it up! That's why they're striking.

Firemen really do put their lives on the line for 25 years and they will automatically enter burning houses to save total strangers who, one day, could be a close and much-loved member of your family. They deserve everything they want and more. Selfish? Firemen? Barking. On occasion they get involved in some cheeky stuff for sure. However i know soldiers who have covered for them during previous srikes who said they sat doing next to nothing for most of the time and what call-outs they did get were not incidents that required much strength or athleticism. They need to move with the times just like the military. Our pensions have been ravaged but are still pretty decent compared with the private sector, as are the new firefighters pensions. Get used to strikes though when Labour win the election.
