Another big advantage we have is that Caulker is a defender and defenders take pride in defending! What is the outcome of good defending? Clean sheets. Which club has a great clean sheet record? Palace.

If I were serious about defending and wanted to be recognized as a quality defender I would join a club like Palace that rakes up the clean sheets as if they were leaves.

From Sky Sports Transfer feed just now...

TRANSFER ODDS Steven Caulker has been backed to join Crystal Palace, as news they might hijack his move to QPR came out. He’s 5/2 to join the Eagles, coming in from 16/1. He’s still 1/3 to join QPR. Check out all our transfer specials.

According to reports from Wales Caulker is on £40k a week. QPR have offered him £60k a week and Palace are offering £40k a week plus a £2m bonus for staying up.

Well, if this is true and he hasn't signed for QPR already then obviously the 20k difference has not yet been enough to convince him to join them so he must be hoping we, or someone else, comes in with an attractive alternative. Seems like we are still play...even seems like he would rather come to us than them if we could find a way to make it work.

I have to say, I don't think QPR are an attractive prospect at all. Harry is on his last legs so the manager that signs you almost certainly won't be around for more than a year...the fallout from the poisonous reputation the dressing room had 12 months ago is probably still not totally gone in player circles...Barton is a loose cannon; I suspect a few players would not want to join a dressing room where he was a central figure...and they really don't have a lot of genuine Premiership talent. Basically, they snuck up with a lot of luck in the playoffs and they're in for a long, hard season where they'll be relegation favourites.

We, on the other hand, may not pay as much but the entire league is raving about playing in front of our supporters, we finished in 11th place and are in a good position to push on, we have Manager of the Year in charge and a lot of players with blossoming reputations (Jedi, Yala, Gayle, Ward, etc.) Narrow, if not close the 20k gap and I'd join us over QPR too if I was Caulker.

Sounds familiar?

If TP likes him and he settles in with our culture and keeps fit, he will play all 38 league games. No rotation nonsense with TP. This should sway a move to us if he has any sense.

Unlike most of the rubbish suggestions on here and ludicrous paper talks, this rumour has legs in that it is just the kind of player I guess TP would buy. British Isles born, EPL experience, hard working, no nonsense.

The future's bright, the future's Palace.

Also he is a Brenford fan,so bit of a west London Traitor if he joined QPR.
But if Rio Ferdinand is going to QPR then a chance to have a season learning of him make sway it,plus old twitchy is someone he has played under before.

I think that Speroni might disagree with that statement

Why, how many games did Speroni play last season? Oh, you are saying that Hennesey didn't get to play? Special circumstances. A good goalie brought in as solid back-up with likely succession to no.1 given Speroni's age.

The supposed Pulis/Jerome spat centred on CJ feeling he could not get a game at Stoke as he had his favourites. Look at the 4 signings made by TP. Hennesey was for the future; one was a speculative loan; but the other 3... Caulker needs to look no further than what has happened with Dann and Ledley's careers to see his probable career trajectory if he joins us. Regular games in a team that is more likely to stay up and do well. By comparison, QPR is too risky and flakey an option no matter what they are willing to pay.

While I really hope we go for him from his side of things if QPR offer stacks more cash which I'm sure they will and it's a straight choice between us and them he will choose them IMO

But 'one rumour' says there would be av £2m end of season bonus if Palace stayed up? Very tasty carrot, if true!

Silvertop has got it right. But what's a few grand when you can go the way of Dann?

Could add Puncheon and Chamakh to that list. (I don't know what Punch was on previously)

Ok thanks , sounds good , and it says on there QPR are offering 60k a week (£3000000 per year) and were offering 40k per week (£200000 per year ) but also that if we stay up he would get a 2 mil bonus so we are actually offering more if we stay up . Come on palace get this done

Potentially yes, but is the bird-in-the-hand (£3m) a better bet than the two-in-the-bush (£4m), if you're an outsider? Who would a potential recruit think has the better chance of staying up? We think we know the answer, but we're not the ones gambling with a £1m quid.
