On the positive side, we are taking back control. As long as we abide by WTO rules that prevent us from controlling our trade. Well, according to my butcher (this is in Somerset where sheep farming is massive and he buys direct from the farmer) they don't just take the parts that Brits find unappetising. Because we produce the finest lamb in the EU, and because many of the EU countries are more selective in their purchase of meat (butchers rather than supermarket cheap stuff), farmers are able to command around 100+ Euros per whole carcass - much better pricing than the UK will pay. Without the EU market, they should easily be able to outsell New Zealand imports (the currently cheaper option for the UK). The tragedy is that, in major cities there are so few decent butchers left to sell this lamb - I know when I left Sydenham 10 years ago, my nearest non-halal butchers were in Thornton Heath or West Wickham(and the Thornton Heath one has now gone I believe). Or maybe they could transfer all those green fields to goat farming instead...... A stairway to Heaven and a Highway to Hell give some indication of expected traffic numbers
